Not Licensed by the NFL Professional Football Craft Projects (Third Edition)

Now that I got the NFL merchandise done, it’s on to crafts, which might make the NFL very angry. Since I’m sure a lot of the stuff isn’t licensed and they’re rather particular on that. Nevertheless, while there are some fans who don costumes and buy tons of overpriced crap, there is a segment of fans who make things for themselves, Etsy, or Pinterest. And yes, NFL craft projects do exist. Just ask embroiderer and LA Rams linebacker Rosie Greer. Besides, there are plenty of women football fans and other men who like doing crafts. Still, the fan map is a bit off since the Raiders moved to Vegas while the Chargers and Rams moved to LA. But this was made years ago. This is one of the easier posts in my NFL bunch since I already have plenty saved from previous years. So for your reading pleasure, I give you another assortment of NFL crafts from the fans.

  1. May your New York Giants glass block always shine bright.

This one has a decal. Still, I haven’t put a lot of Giants stuff on my post for some reason. Maybe it’s because I don’t see much of it.

2. Nobody could resist this Pittsburgh Steelers flower pot guy.

Because he’s made of flower pots. But he has fake black and gold flowers for hair. So cute.

3. Any fan should enjoy this old timey Steeler sign.

As you can see, this is a wooden panel painted yellow with the Steelers name and logo. Great for any fancy house.

4. A Christian home always roots for the Houston Texans.

Okay, I’m kidding about that. But this is a Houston Texans cross.

5. An Indianapolis Colts bottle lamp can lighten up any game day.

It’s blue with silver ribbons. Mainly because the Colts’ colors are blue and white.

6. Grace your front door this season with an evergreen Baltimore Ravens wreath.

Even has purple lights. So you can even use it for Halloween and Christmas.

7. Show your love for your team with a New England Patriots charm bracelet.

Funny how it doesn’t contain a deflated football and a hidden camera. Because that’s what we remember the Patriots for.

8. A Seattle Seahawks stained glass bottle makes a fine gift.

Sure I had posts of similar bottles before. But it’s not meant for drinking. But great for display on a mantle.

9. No NFL home is complete without a Dallas Cowboys decomesh wreath.

It has a sparkly star in the center. Not to mention, you have to admire the blue and white ribbons.

10. For those Indiana proud, you might want to go for Colts palette.

After all, the Colts are the only NFL team in Indiana. And yes, it’s blue with a horseshoe on it.

11. For your game day, this Steelers tulle wreath will do quite nicely.

This one has black and gold tulle with some roses meant to resemble some of the stars in the logo. All in all, a gift for a true Steeler fan.

12. For a New Orleans Saints fan, Louisiana is black and white.

Well, also has a gold Fleur de Lis and “Who Dat.” And Louisiana is covered in a zigzag pattern.

13. This Green Bay Packers bottle light will keep your room lit during the game.

This stained glass bottle lamp is more artisically deisgned. But it nevertheless has a large “G” on it.

14. Cheer for your home team with these Seattle Seahawks pom poms.

These are made from tulle and ribbons. And yes, you can make wreaths from the same materials.

15. A burlap Indiana Colts wreath should make a fine addition to your home.

This one is in blue and white burlap with a Colts flag in the center. Perfect for a game day in Indianapolis.

16. These Pittsburgh Steeler snowmen are always a wintry delight.

These consists of small beams of snowmen with cloth Steeler hats. So cute.

17. Always keep warm with these crocheted Indianapolis Colts headbands.

Both are in blue and white. One has a horseshoe. The other has a flower with a football at the center.

18. A Baltimore Ravens bottle light always shines bright.

And to believe it has some lights with a Ravens logo on it. The purple straw bow makes a nice touch.

19. You’d almost mistake this for an old Atlanta Falcons sign.

Too bad that team lost at the last minute to the Patriots at the Super Bowl. Still, this is a nice looking sign.

20. Make your little girl into a Tennessee Titan fan with a dress like this.

She even has a flower on the front of it. So adorable.

21. Perhaps a simple Baltimore Ravens wreath will do.

This is a yarn wreath with a black bird and a black football. The banner flags give it some original character.

22. A Jacksonville Jaguars decomesh wreath always gives an impression.

This one even has gold letters and a leopard skin ribbon. Since jaguars are technically leopards. Though doesn’t help the Jaguars improve their stats much.

23. This Green Bay Packers quilt has football in the squares.

Though I might’ve thought cheese would look more amusing. Since their fans wear cheese hats.

24. No tailgate party is complete without a Denver Broncos runner.

No, I talking about that runner. This is a table runner. And yes, it’s orange on the borders.

25. There’s always a special treat in a Seattle Seahawks candy jar.

This one has an open bowl on top of a flower pot. And yes, the Seahawks logo is on there.

26. Look festive for the game with these New England Patriots hair bows.

Let’s just say the last time I’d root for the New England Patriots were when they dumped a bunch of tea in a harbor. Other than that, these bows are adorable.

27. No Seahawks could ever resist this metal sign.

Sure it doesn’t have the Seahawk colors. But bare metal will do in this case.

28. There’s nothing more fitting for an Indianapolis Colts fan than a horseshoe wreath.

Decorated with blue and white ribbons to match team colors. Always hang right side up.

29. Be a New England kitchen maven in this Patriots apron.

Because if you root for cheaters, you might as well dress with style when making the snacks. Like the ribbon though.

30. A little Steeler cap should contain a little fringe.

Well, it’s yarn and part of this crocheted hat to substitute for fake hair. But it’s so cute.

31. Dallas Cowboy fans will adore this glass star.

Not sure how big this is supposed to be. But the star shines in all its Dallas glory.

32. Cuddle up for the game with this New England Patriots plaid blanket.

Basically it’s a plaid flannel blanket with Patriots logos on it. Also, the plaid is in red, white, and blue.

33. For Jewish Patriots fans, may I suggest this crocheted yamulke?

Even has a 6 pointed star in the middle. Though I don’t know if rooting for that team makes one a mensch.

34. Perhaps Dallas Cowboys fans might prefer this yarn wreath.

Contains a blue felt star in the center. Perfect for any Dallas home.

35. During the game, you can always snuggle with a Miami Dolphins pillow.

And it looks so fuzzy, too. Wouldn’t mind curling up with it. But the Dolphins aren’t my team.

36. If you love the Indianapolis Colts, you’ll adore this horseshoe light.

Because the Colts’ logo is a horseshoe. But must be good electronics to pull this off.

37. For added effect, you might want to go with a Dallas Cowboy pumpkin or two.

Seems like I get a lot of Dallas Cowboy stuff on my NFL blog posts. But this looks quite superb with the ribbons.

38. For some, this Arizona Cardinals mosaic is a masterpiece.

Almost resembles the logo. Got to admire the detail. I’m sure it fetches a high price on Etsy.

39. This San Diego Chargers quilt is all squared.

This one contains squares of white, yellow, light blue, and dark blue. And the Chargers just moved to LA.

40. No Steeler fan can be without this metal hanging.

Yes, the Steelers certainly are men of steel. Though how much longer they can be with Big Ben is the question.

41. Seems like this Dallas Cowboys pot guy has a conifer head.

Yes, it’s another flower pot guy. But this one actually has branches and pinecones on its head. Adorable.

42. These Baltimore Ravens bottles are always part of the highlights.

These ones are painted with the logos. One is purple while two are gold.

43. There’s always something a bit twisted with this Pittsburgh Steeler wreath.

Yes, it’s a cloth wreath of black and gold. But I do like the shiny black bow behind the Steelers logo.

44. There’s a bright light in this Dallas Cowboy glass block.

Though I do like the decomesh bow decor on this. Still, they Cowboys aren’t America’s football team by a longshot.

45. This Detroit Lion is comprised of license plates.

This one depicts Michigan on it. Though we have to acknowledge that the Detroit Lions are one of the worst performing teams in the NFL.

46. You can always keep yourself warm in this Baltimore Ravens blanket.

One side has the Ravens logo. The other side is purple. Also fuzzy.

47. This Seahawks blankie is all decked with stars.

You can tell it’s a Seahawks blanket by the colors. And yes, each square is crocheted.

48. On cold games, you might want to snuggle with a Denver Broncos blanket throw.

This one is checked in orange and blue squares. Still, seems cozy if you ask me.

49. Relax during the big game tailgate party in this Pittsburgh Steelers lawn chair.

This one is painted yellow with a black back. And it has yellow lines to imitate a spark.

50. Any Indianapolis Colts fan would love to have a decomesh horseshoe on their door.

This is a blue horseshoe with white holes on it. And yes, the horseshoe is right side up.

51. You’d almost think this was a welcome hanger at some bar.

It’s actually a New Orleans Saints decoration. Not really sure what it’s made of. But you have to admire the artistry.

52. This Pittsburgh Steeler dog bed is fit for a champion.

It’s just a flat pillow that’s used for a small dog. Not sure if it’s thrilled with its bed.

53. Hang your coats on this Miami Dolphins rack.

Sure it might resemble something you’d see from a kid’s room. But it’s something even an adult would want. Though the only coats Dolphins fans would wear are windbreakers and rain slickers.

54. A Minnesota kitchen maven must have her own Vikings apron.

It even has a Vikings rose pin. You also have to like the light purple ribbon and frills.

55. Might want to check out this jeweled Baltimore Raven.

Think this might be a pin. The beak has some gold stones on it which is kind of strange.

56. A Seahawks wreath should always have some pom pom flowers.

It’s a yarn wreath with a Seahawk on it, by the way. Though bright green is employed in Seahawks gear, it’s only an accent color on the logo.

57. From socks, you can make your own Seattle Seahawks snowmen.

They even have their own hats, scarves, and buttons. So adorable you just want to hug them.

58. An Oakland Raiders fan would see this mosaic as a work of art.

It says “Raider Nation” around the circumference. Too bad the team’s moving to Vegas.

59. Speaking of art, this is almost a New England Patriot masterpiece.

It’s certainly well painted. Say what you want about New England, but this is quite good.

60. You can be Pittsburgh Steeler proud with this beaded pendant.

This one seems well made. Must take a lot of time. But the logo’s right.

61. For good luck, a Colts fan should hang this horseshoe.

It’s a silver horseshoe with a blue ribbon going through it. Easy as pie.

62. With this Seahawks pot, who knows what you’ll grow?

This one has 4 flower pots stacked against each other. 3 have Seahawks colors. The top one is a football.

63. A Patriots fan would want to have this mosaic on their wall.

This one is of the Patriots logo in blue, white, red, and silver stones. No deflated footballs were involved.

64. This crocheted Miami Dolphins cap will protect you from the cold.

Wonder when a Dolphins fan would wear this. Because isn’t southern Florida notoriously hot?

65. Even the birds seem to be Colts fans.

Well, this one is quite small. But it’s nevertheless, well painted and cozy.

66. Enjoy hours of fun with this San Diego Chargers car.

It’s just a wooden lightning bold car with wheels. May not go fast. But it’s adorable.

67. All little girls would want to wear a Jacksonville Jaguars dress.

It’s a little blue and leopard printed dress with the logo on the chest. So adorable.

68. No one could get married in Arizona without a crocheted Cardinals garter.

Yes, it kind of looks ridiculous. But it seems DIY so it goes on the post.

69. Welcome guests to the Sunday game with this Baltimore Ravens decomesh wreath.

This one has a Ravens ribbon all over the purple and black. Also doubles as a Halloween wreath.

70. Something’s growing from this Seahawks pot guy.

This one isn’t like the pot guy I showed last year. Since it has longer flower pot legs. But it’s so cute.

71. No little one could resist this San Diego Chargers bear quilt.

It has 3 bears on it long with 3 color squares. So cute.

72. You’ll always stun onlookers with these Seattle Seahawk earrings.

This one has long beads at the fringes. Of course, I couldn’t wear these if I wanted to.

73. Get baking the tailgate treats with your very own Pittsburgh Steelers oven mitt.

After all, it takes a champion to bake the best cakes and cookies. Pittsburgh is the city for them.

74. There’s something spinning within this Steelers suncatcher.

This one has the logo spinning with a football at a corner. I’m sure it’s a Pittsburgh delight.

75. Only the very best football fare should be served on a Steelers tray.

This is a wooden tray that’s painted in the black and gold. And yes it has the logo and helmet.

76. If you love the Denver Broncos, I’m sure you’d like this sign in your home.

Sure it doesn’t have the best paint job. But the horse certainly looks awesome.

77. Receive your mail on time in this New York Giants mailbox.

It has NY in red, white, and blue all over this ting. But it beats Patriot postings with a vengeance.

78. You won’t be in the dark with this New Orleans Saints bottle lamp.

You can tell by the Fleur de Lis on this. And it has a similar print on both top and bottom ribbons.

79. It’s always easy to enjoy an Oakland Raiders end table.

This one is painted in black and silver. Has the Raiders logo on both shelf and tabletop.

80. I guess this is the crocheted Viking hat for the stadium.

Comprises of a purple beanie and a yarn yellow beard. May not make you look like a Viking. But some may feel like a warrior.

Celebrate the Stars and Stripes Forever with These Star Spangled 4th of July Craft Projects (Second Edition)

On with the craft projects. As the 4th of July is a celebration of America’s birthday, many people in the country tend to splurge on star spangled decorations. In this picture alone, you have American flags, American flag decorations, and figures of Uncle Sam. Yet, while plenty of party stores and retail outlets are happy to sell patriotic paraphernalia, some people take it a bit further by making their own. Yes, red, white and blue are the dominant colors.  And some of these often depict stars and stripes like you see on the American flag. Of course, many of these might violate the US Flag Code but it’s not that anyone pays attention to it anyone unless someone burns a flag in public protest. But that’s talking about an earlier post I did years ago. Anyway, for your reading pleasure, I give you another treasure trove of 4th of July craft projects for your home and yard.

  1. To mark the 4th, perhaps you might want to go with this.

It’s a wooden 4 that’s blue with white stars. Helps someone used a red and white string to tie it for emphasis.

2. In a more rustic setting, a red berry wreath with a star will do.

But don’t forget topping it with a blue ribbon. Otherwise, someone might mistake it for a Christmas wreath.

3. Nothing brings out one’s love of country like this 4th of July tree.

Yes, I know they do these trees for every holiday now. But at least it’s red, white, and blue.

4. A burlap patriotic wreath brings a homespun American touch.

Includes wooden letters “USA” and red, white, and blue stars. Love the navy blue bow, too.

5. Sometimes all you need is a simple white wreath.

Though be sure to include a red and white striped background and a navy blue ribbon with white stars. And the display should be in a white wooden frame.

6. The stars and stripes should be painted on a large wooden panel.

Because nothing emphasizes America than a flag painted on aged wood. Great for any American home.

7. Welcome guests on the 4th of July with this red, white, and blue deco mesh wreath.

Sure the colors seem to run together. But you have to admire the navy blue ribbon and stars.

8. Or perhaps you prefer a wreath of ribbons.

This one uses several consisting of stripes and stars configurations. Like how the stars give it charm.

9. You can’t set your table at a 4th of July barbecue without burlap cutlery bags with the flag.

Because it’s likely that you might need something to keep the cutlery from blowing off the table. Still, like the painted flag.

10. No American couch should be without this patriotic pillow.

Consists of a red and white striped pillow with a navy blue bow of white stars. Great for any American furniture piece but the dining room table.

11. Welcome your guests this 4th of July by hanging this star spangled wreath.

Like how it has red, white, and blue stars hanging from blue ribbons. Not sure what the wreath material is though.

12. For 4th of July and fun in the sun, may I suggest this star-spangled flip flop wreath?

Though keep in mind that, “flip flop” describes the sandals not senators. Has red flowers and blue sunglasses in the center.

13. A wreath wrapped in a flag can look quite stunning in a window frame.

Though the window frame is much to be desired. But it makes a fine outdoor decoration regardless.

14. If you’re not a fan of wreaths, you might want to try a star.

Well, it’s a rustic 5 pointed star with an American flag and pussy willows tied in a ribbon. Love it.

15. How about an American flag wreath with paper roses?

Well, dried roses anyway. But I know dried roses when I see them. Still, this is quite lovely.

16. A deco mesh wreath should always contain an Uncle Sam hat.

Helps if the deco mesh is lined with silver and the hat is shiny. Great to put on any American door.

17. If you want to use organic materials, this patriotic pine cone wreath is for you.

Well, if you live near an evergreen forest, then the pinecones should be easy to find. If not, there’s always the craft stores. But this wreath is simply stunning.

18. Even flag stands should have stars and stripes on them.

After all, flags need something to stand on besides the ground. Yet, you can always fit a star or 2 on the blue.

19. A 4th of July wreath should always have stars and stripe ribbons.

Though you can also add lace as a finishing touch. Also like the white lace. Very classy.

20. Wooden stars on sticks always belong in a flower pot bouquet.

Includes some red, white, and blue stars as well as a large American flag one. Love it.

21. Celebrate your love for America with these wooden blocks spelling the US of A.

Consists of a blue U, a red S, and an American flag decorated A. Bet the A stands for America and therefore, has to be the fanciest.

22. On this panel, it’s “God Bless America.”

And it’s all painted in the classic red, white, and blue. Great for any American house or porch.

23. No woman should be in the kitchen without this star spangled apron.

I had a few of these aprons on last year’s craft post. But this one mostly consists of navy blue with white stars.

24. Any all-American house should have a set of all-American firecrackers.

Okay, these are made from wood and don’t actually explode. But they all have star spangled designs you can’t resist.

25. How about a star-spangled address block to mark your house?

This one uses tiles of red, white, and blue to give a stars and stripes look. Wonderful for any American garden.

26. Nothing expresses the American spirit like a star spangled wreath of tulle.

Unlike the tulle wreath in last year’s post, it has more stars and more stripes. Also like how it looks on the door.

27. Celebrate the 4th of July in your home with these star-spangled shutters.

Well, they’re recycled shutters. But they’re both painted with stripes and a unique star design on top.

28. Red, white, and blue stars should always stick together.

So you have to tie these up with a burlap and rag ribbon. Still, I’m sure they’re all different sizes.

29. How about a wreath with more stripes and a few stars?

Not sure if the blue on here consists of feathers. But it’s rather an interesting design to have on your door.

30. As we all know, liberty is what Americans hold most sacred.

It even lights up and has an American flag. Yet, the panel of “Liberty” outshines all.

31. Hope you’re fine with 2 flags in one basket.

This one has some berries in it as well. Like the stars on it. So quaint.

32. Perhaps a wall hanging of stars with rag stripes will do.

Well, the stars aren’t in a neat in tidy shape. But they don’t necessarily have to be. After all, it’s the motifs that count.

33. Now your kids can enjoy their 4th of July with star studded chalk.

Available in only red, white, and blue. Because those are the colors of the American flag.

34. Curl up on the couch this 4th of July with this star spangled pillow.

This one has the blue star pattern as star on a striped background. Looks best next to the one with the bow.

35. 1776 should always be enshrined on a berry branch wreath.

Of course, the year itself should be framed amongst a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Just for good measure.

36. A red, white, and blue wreath of yarn is just as nice.

But the wreath appears purple because the strands appear so intertwined. Still, like the red, white, and blue flowers.

37. Care to honor America with flowers?

And as you see, the flowers are red. But you have to adore the fancy ribbons and stars.

38. Step out of your home this 4th of July with a pair of patriotic tennis shoes.

Though the shoes don’t really seem to match. But they have the same stars and stripe patterns if only in different places.

39. Let freedom ring with this American flag wind chime.

It’s mostly made of metal with a small plate of stars. But it’ll sure let freedom sing with the wind.

40. Make your 4th of July barbecue guests feel welcome with this burlap wreath.

This one uses a rather simple design with one star tied to the side. But I’m sure many will want this on their door.

41. These wooden firecrackers can use a few stars on them.

Well, at least the red and blue ones. The white one just gets nothing. Even has a tag saying, “USA.”

42. For a table centerpiece, place some flowers in some star spangled bricks.

This looks easy, assuming that the flowers are fake. Comes with a single blue brick with a white star.

43. Grace your home with this old-fashioned American flag dress display.

Keep in mind, this is a dress meant for decoration. Not for wearing. Still, like the golden stars and flag.

44. Perhaps a flower wreath should come with stars and ribbons.

Well, it may not look like the flower wreath I had on my craft post last year. But it certainly evokes 4th of July fun.

45. Nothing makes your 4th of July worthwhile than a red, white, and blue birdhouse.

Helps if it has a place to put your flower pots. Each birdhouse comes with a stand of the same red, white, and blue configuration.

46. Light up your 4th of July with these mason jar candle holders.

These consist of mason jars filled with different colors of art sand. And each one is tied with a red and white striped bow.

47. Want your fireworks to sparkle and shine? Get some red, white, and blue sequins.

Well, sequin discs you use in craft projects in art class. Still, you can make plenty of patterns with them on these wooden firecrackers.

48. Get yourself clean the American way with some stars and stripes soap.

Okay, most Americans use regular soap. But this is a 4th of July post. So American themed soap is shown here.

49. If you don’t have stars, buttons will do fine.

Well, buttons are just as good as stars for a wreath like this. Kind of gives this rag wreath a certain character.

50. A stars and stripes flower pot is great for a 4th of July bouquet.

Even if they have to consist of red, white, and blue carnations. Yet, it also includes shiny stars for patriotic emphasis.

51. If you love “America the Beautiful,” then you’ll like this wooden panel.

Though to be fair, the song was written by a lesbian who had a partner for 25 years. Bet they didn’t teach you that in history class.

52. If you don’t like wreath, then show your American pride with this American flag star.

Even has some patriotic ribbons to go along with it. Kind of has a whimsical shape to it.

53. Got any corks? Make a flag from them to hang.

I suppose most of these come from a craft store. Or at least I hope they come from one. Still, like the silver stars on it.

54. Nothing says you’re love for America than a shadowbox of paper flowers.

Well, paper flowers configured into an American flag, of course. Sure it has 9 stars but it’s the impression that counts.

55. This dresser is a must have for any American woman.

This one has an American flag painted on it. Hope whoever made this can get used to it all year round.

56. As you can see, this only sings the song of liberty.

Yes, it’s another patriotic wind chime. But it has the blue and stars on top.

57. There’s nothing more patriotic than an American flag made from shotgun shells.

Well, according to some NRA members. But as someone who doesn’t like guns, I beg to differ.

58. With this chair, you can find the Star-Spangled Banner at your seat.

Though many might view sitting on the American flag as desecration. Yet, most Americans would probably buy this anyway.

59. Never thought I’d see a metal flag before.

It’s even on a wavy metal sheet to resemble the American flag flying freely. Great to hang in any American home.

60. You’d almost think the flag was waving in this frame.

It’s actually an old shutter painted as the American flag. But you probably wouldn’t notice that.

61. Perhaps a 4th of July bandanna wreath would suit you.

Though keep in mind, bandanas often have some bad connotations to them since they’ve been banned by school dress codes. Still, you have to admire the stars on this.

62. Cinder block planters always shine in red, white, and blue.

Though they’re also heavy to lift as well. Might want to stick to wood or plastic instead.

63. Sometimes a simple decoration can say it best.

This is just a simple white yarn wreath with blue stars and American flag bows. So simple yet so lovely.

64. Every American couch should have a stars and stripes pillow.

Didn’t know they had a red pattern with white stars. Still, I’ve seen similar ones with different configurations.

65. Celebrate your 4th of July with some American flag china.

These may not be actual crafts. But they’ll sure be perfect for your Independence Day barbecue.

66. May this patriotic mason jar be a beacon of liberty in your home.

It even has a light to illuminate your party during the fireworks. Doesn’t seem quite hard to make.

As to how they managed to find red, white, and blue ones is a mystery to me. Oh, wait, they used black ones for the blue.

Well, that’s a cute little dress. And it’s sure to make any girl a star-spangled darling.

69. A rustic wreath should have a flag and star.

It also has burlap and a berry wreath around the white star. Love it.

70. A rag wreath like this on the 4th of July is as good as any.

This one seems to have mostly red with white polka dots. But it’s just as patriotic nonetheless.

71. Perhaps you might want to stick a bunch of flags in one basket.

Well, you see a lot of American flag displays like this one. But I’m not sure if that’s overdoing it.

72. These star spangled flower pots make perfect patriotic planters.

These have stripes on the brim and stars on the pot. At any rate, they tend to be stacked together for height.

73. Nothing makes a 4th of July barbecue like a star spangled chair.

This one has a star back and a striped bottom. Hope it goes with a set and a table to match.

74. A 4th of July table should be star studded along the border.

And as a matter of fact, this one definitely is. Love it. So pretty.

75. A navy blue star is always stellar on a striped canvas.

Since the very advent of modern humans, people have strung beads for ornamentation mostly for jewelry and other personal adornments as well as wall hangings, embroidered decoration, and even sculpture. Yet, they’ve also been used for religious purposes, good luck charms, curative agents, and for trade. Since they’re usually made from a variety of durable materials from all shapes, sizes, designs, and colors, they often survive in the archaeological record. Almost every culture in the world has their own form of beadwork with Native American styles being among the most well-known. Though to be fair, Native American beadwork as we know it didn’t develop until the Europeans introduced glass beads. A lot of African and Pacific Island cultures are identified with using beadwork as well. Today modern beadwork is often seen as a creative hobby to create jewelry, purses, coasters, and dozens of other crafts which can range in varying levels of difficulty and specialization. Nevertheless, you’d find plenty of bead crafts on Pinterest which can be quite elaborate and beyond a normal beader’s expertise. Whether to fasten your clothing or just to make you look sharp, buttons have been made from almost every possible material imaginable. In 1918, the US government made an extensive survey on the international button market listing buttons made of vegetable ivory, metal, glass, galalith, silk, linen, cotton-covered crochet, lead, snap fasteners, glass, enamel, rubber, buckhorn, wood, horn, bone, leather, paper, pressed cardboard, mother-of-pearl, celluloid, porcelain, composition, tin, zinc, xylonite, stone, cloth-covered wooden forms, and papier-mâché. And they’ve been on almost every article of clothing imaginable like shirts, dresses, pants, shoes, jackets, coats, skirts, and even bags, wallets, and purses if you can count the last two. Also, they’ve been around a very long time in history as buttons and button type fasteners have been found in the Indus Valley Civilization, Bronze Age China, and Ancient Rome. But the functional buttons we know today were invented in 13th century Germany. As we all know, buttons can fall off or get lost from time to time. Then there are people who have so many loose buttons that they’re not sure what to do with them. Nevertheless, you’ll find buttons used on Pinterest for almost every known craft project imaginable. Some buttons are used to create pictures. Some to decorate lamps and furniture. However the case, here I bring you an assortment of them for your own reading pleasure.

Fun and Fantastical Dr. Seuss Craft Projects from the Truffula Tree Forest

The wide world of Dr. Seuss is filled with so many whimsical contraptions that many would find impossible to replicate in real life. At least one in good working order. But they certainly delight us nonetheless. Yet, you’d also find plenty of Dr. Seuss crafts and other items that might whisk you off to Whoville, the Jungle of Nool, or the Truffula Forest. But you’d find a lot of other places, too. Naturally, many of these usually consist of activities catered toward children. Because plenty of schools and parents make use of them. Yet, you’ll also find plenty of other craft items in Dr. Seuss’s fantastical style. None of them consists of thneeds. However, I’m not sure what the hell one is used for anyway except making money for the Once-ler which leads to him decimating the Truffula Forest. Maybe we’re not supposed to. Anyway, for your reading pleasure, I give you an assortment of charming Dr. Seuss craft projects. Enjoy.

  1. You can make adequate Truffula trees with pool noodles and tissue paper.

Though you might need t use yellow duct tape for the trunk. Still, if you like The Lorax, these can’t be beat.

2. A Cat in the Hat child’s chair is always a delight in the home.

It’s even painted in blue, red, white, and black. I’m sure it’s made by a pro. But I like it.

3. A Green Eggs and Ham pinata is always full of surprises.

But at least in this one, you have candy. Not food-borne diseases like trichinosis.

4. You can’t steal Christmas without a Grinch ugly sweater.

I know Christmas is a long way off. But the Grinch is such an iconic Dr. Seuss character. So I can’t ignore putting a few in this one.

5. No one can say no to a Green Eggs and Ham snack tray.

It just has the green eggs and ham painted on. Nevertheless, it’s quite a work of art.

6. A Dr. Seuss shelf should always create a colorful impression.

This one comes in 3 sections. But you’d certainly find it at a Whoville furniture store.

7. It’s never out of style to wear a Cat in the Hat dress.

And you can’t get any better than with a Cat in the Hat sun dress. Best to wear on rainy summer days.

Certainly a crazy quilt indeed with all kinds of colors. But it’s as Seussical as can be.

Well, certainly seems like it. Still, not sure if I’d want to have it around my place. The shelves are uneven which is precisely the point.

Sure the Lorax is a fuzzy character since he’s orange and hairy with a long yellow mustache. But he’s not particularly cuddly. Though this hat certainly is.

Well, Thing 1 and Thing 2 are the Cat and the Hat’s main entourage. Still, these are cute.

Obviously, This is from the Cat in the Hat. Since the blue reflects the hair from Things 1 & 2.

Nevertheless, they come in all shapes and sizes. Also, they all come in pots.

For honoring Cinco de Mayo this year (or Mexican Saint Patrick’s Day as I call it), I’ve decided that instead of doing a craft and treat post for observing the holiday, I decided to mark the occasion through a post on something we associate with Mexico. That’s right pinatas. Of course, in the US, pinatas are commonly used for children’s birthday parties which they wear a blindfold and try to whack it down with a large stick before everyone scrambles to get candy coming out of it. However, despite its common association with Mexico, the pinata’s origins aren’t just reserved for that country. In fact, the word “pinata” is a Spanish deviation of the Italian word, “pignatta” meaning “earthenware cooking pot.” Not to mention, the idea of breaking a container with treats had existed in Europe since the 14th century. And it’s very likely that Europeans got the idea for it from China where it was used to celebrate the Chinese New Year and depicted as either a cow or ox and filled with seeds. In Europe, it was associated with the Christian observance of Lent. The first Lenten Sunday was called “Pinata Sunday” with a celebration called Dance of the Pinata. The pinata mostly consisted of a clay pottery container decorated with ribbons, tinsel, and colored paper.  Though to be fair, Mesoamerica did have similar traditions such as honoring  Huitzilopochtli’s birthday in mid-December. So the pinata tradition wasn’t quite imported though the Spanish used pinatas for catechism purposes as well to co-opt the Huitzilopochtli ceremony. And the Mayan tradition before that involved something similar to what you see at kids’ birthday parties. Still, in 16th century Mexican Catholicism, the pot represented man’s struggle against temptation. The pot symbolized evil with whatever’s in it the seasonal fruit within. The blindfolded person with the stick represents faith. Anyway, today, you’ll find pinatas in all different shapes and sizes. And it Mexico, you’ll find it used not just for kids’ birthday parties, but also for Christmas, weddings, and other occasions. Nevertheless, for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of these Mexican containers of goodies.

Of course, regardless what people might think about minions, they might agree on this one. But not always for the same reason. Yes, I know there are some people who don’t like these guys.

7. A lobster pinata makes a rather classic party addition.

However, only rich people can afford to have a lobster pinata at their kids’ birthday parties. Though I do like its tuxedo.

8. A tiki pinata can bring paradise to anywhere.

Though this might be a remnant of Polynesian culture. Because those tiki figures depicted their gods.

9. Nobody could resist this Dalmatian pinata pup.

Great for any firehouse birthday party. Though a German Shepard can do just as nice but they’re more associated with police.

10. If you like Pirates of the Caribbean, then this pinata is for you.

This one even has flaming tissue paper torches. Yet, we have to understand that a pirate’s life wasn’t as cool as these movies show.

11. Wonder what’s in this mysterious box.

According to Super Mario Bros., it can be a spotted mushroom that makes you bigger, a blinking star that allows you to shoot fire balls, or gold coins. Still, this is a pretty simple pinata to make.

12. A disco ball pinata always makes things groovy.

Make sure to use very shiny paper on the outside. But it must be broken to the soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever.

13. This lipstick pinata definitely leaves a mark.

Even has some kiss marks to emphasize. Hope it’s full of candy and not cosmetic samples.

14. A happy butterfly pinata always brings a smile.

This is so cute I’d hate to see it broken open by a bunch of kids. But that’s the crux of a pinata’s existence.

15. This Frida Kahlo pinata is an artistic masterpiece.

After all, I can’t do a pinata post without including one of her. Since she’s an especially iconic Mexican artist.

Though let’s remember not all of the Native American tribes lived in these things. Yet, they’re often depicted as such.

Well, great for any space themed party. And it doesn’t seem hard to make either.

But remember that the candy is mostly stored in the sole and heel. Love the purple straps though.

This one has a flask filled with a purple substance. Nevertheless, I’m sure there won’t be harmful chemicals in this.

Doesn’t hurt it’s decorated with flowers either. Though looking at it requires a temporary suspension of disbelief.

21. This house fly pinata will never be an ongoing pest.

Okay, this is one of the creepiest pinatas I’ve ever seen. Probably one you’d want to beat open with a stick since it inspires nightmares.

22. Nothing makes a party like a pinata of Mr. Potato Head.

Wonder if it comes with detachable features like the toy. Great for a Toy Story themed party.

23. With this pinata, you can almost see the whole world.

This is a pinata of the globe all right. And yes, it depicts all the continents.

24. Snoopy and Woodstock are always a delight.

Another pinata I wouldn’t want to break down. These two are so adorable with each other. Though I never understand what Woodstock says.

25. This sun pinata can always keep you on the sunny side.

Because nothing makes your day like a bright smiling burst of yellow. And I hear this pinata is filled with sunny delights.

26. You never know what you’d find in a Russian nesting doll pinata.

However, I’m sure there are several nesting doll pinatas inside. So it’ll be a while before you get to the candy.

27. This fish pinata’s proving to be a real angler.

Another great pinata for fishing enthusiasts. Wonder if it’s used for any parties for Field and Stream.

28. A wedding cake pinata should be hoisted on high.

Doesn’t hurt if it comes with white roses. By the way, wedding pinatas are a thing in Mexico.

29. There’s nothing like seeing a rainbow pinata on a spring day.

This one even has rainbow streamers attached to it. So lovely.

30. There’s nothing you can resist about a cute little pink elephant.

By the way, a pink elephant is a euphemism for a drunken hallucination. Though to be fair, this is perfectly acceptable for any little girl’s party.

Yes, pinatas are used for Christmas, too. Still, this little penguin with a Santa hat is adorable.

This one even has a glitter neck and hooves along with a rainbow mane and tail. I’m sure any little girl would love it.

If you’re throwing a Harry Potter themed party, this is perfect for you. Or a Thor one since he’s the Norse god of thunder.

Well, it says TNT on the outside. But I don’t think you’ll find any dynamite in there. Unless the party’s for a pyromaniac.

35. For traditional Mexican pinatas, you can’t go wrong with a 9-pointed star.

Mexicans use this one for Christmas, by the way. And yes, it’s decked in all kinds of different colors.

Sure it won’t contain a genie that could grant you 3 wishes. But, hey, candy is just as good.

This one just consists of the bat logo. Yet, I’m sure it’ll delight fans young and old.

39. A Stay Puft Marshmallow Man pinata always needs busted.

Of course, he’s what everyone remembers best about Ghostbusters. Still, he’s supposed to be a menace storming the city. Not a cute little ghost in a sailor suit.

40. No princess could resist a pinata of Rapunzel’s tower.

Well, it’s certainly a work of art. Love the flowers and roof tiles. Would be a shame to see it hacked open by a stick.

41. Not sure how you hoist up this mounted deer pinata.

But it sure makes a swell decoration on someone’s wall. Until someone breaks it open.

42. With this hanging deer pinata you’re in for a real treat.

Though I recommend it for kid parties for late November and early December. Still, this just cracks me up.

Of course, I could include a crude pussy joke here. But I’m not going to even try. Still, this is adorable.

Sure it’s perfectly safe for any child to whack open this beehive pinata. But when it comes to real hives and wasp nests, just tell them to stay the hell away.

Just like a purse. But I’m sure a pinata purse won’t contain stuff you’d find in a regular one.

Though let’s hope this is used at a little girl’s party. Because from what College Humor says, bronies can be kind of creepy.

Even has some pink frosting to match. Nevertheless, it’s not a hard one to pull off.

A Wreath for All Seasons

A lot of my craft posts have featured wreaths at one point or another whether they be for holidays, for fandoms, or other kind of decor like shells or jewelry. Whenever I go on Pinterest, I seem to find wreaths for almost every occasion you can think of. Whatever it is, chances are you’ll find a wreath for it. Nevertheless, I also find a lot of wreaths which don’t seem to fit in any set box. Some may be seasonal. Some might reflect an interest or profession. Some might denote an occasion like a wedding, birthday, or graduation. Some might take on a particular theme. And some might just exist to make the place look pretty. In any case, a lot of these wreaths can be just as memorable as the ones I usually put on posts. Nevertheless, wreaths have a long history and much symbolism associated with them since ancient times, especially around the Mediterranean. Though the ancient Greeks, Romans, and Etruscans usually used them as prizes or crowns. Yet, other ancient Europeans used them as decoration, too. Today, wreaths can denote so many holidays and occasions or possibly none at all. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of wreath for all seasons.

Well, it has a lot of small flower pots with seeds, tools, and a nest. Great for any green thumb.

2. A peacock wreath should always come with sparkling flowers.

I guess this for a rather festive occasion. Love the flowers and feathers. So pretty.

3. A flower wreath should have a few home and garden touches.

This one includes a birdhouse, watering cans, and a key. Not sure what season this is for though.

4. Even a fall wreath can seem rather festive.

And you can tell since it has a bow in two plaid ribbons. Also, sunflowers usually come around late in the summer and early autumn.

5. A wreath with a pink butterfly can make quite an impression.

Doesn’t hurt if it covers the center wreath. Great for spring.

6. A nautical wreath should always include a lighthouse.

Though a lot of beaches may not have them. Yet, I think it goes great with the shells.

Well, “gone fishin'” is an expression denoting that someone’s gone on vacation. But this is quite clever.

Though I’m not sure whether the blue one fits in. Then again, sometimes you have to go with what you have.

9. This maritime wreath is well anchored.

Speaking of nautical wreaths, prepare to see quite a few of them. Since it’s a popular theme. Still, love this one.

10. Flowers always look delightful crocheted.

Wouldn’t mind having this on my door or wall. Still, would look out of place on a tombstone.

11. A wreath should be about as colorful as the flowers on them.

This yarn wreath has interesting flowers on it. Though the stripes aren’t bad either.

12. Fancy drink umbrellas can always celebrate the summer.

Let’s hope whoever made this wreath got the small umbrellas from a craft store. Because I know these are often served with drinks.

13. A crayon wreath makes a great present for the teacher.

I bet this is for an elementary school teacher since it consists of a lot of crayons. Like the tape measure ribbon.

14. You can always grow to love a garden hose wreath.

Though this gardener’s wreath doesn’t seem to have any patience. Also, let’s hope the hose used wasn’t stolen or anything.

15. Some flower wreaths can do with a few pearls.

I can see why someone would want to make a wreath more fancy. Yet, I’m not sure if it’s necessary.

16. Apparently, this wreath seems rather brushed off.

Okay, it’s made with paint brushes on it. Great for a garage. Not so much for a living room or front door.

17. You can’t go wrong with a wreath of red roses.

Floral wreaths like these are great for almost any holiday or season. And one with roses is no exception.

18. A lantern goes great with yellow flowers.

Another fall wreath, I believe. The lantern’s a bit rusty but rather fitting.

19. Nothing makes a better fall wreath like one of Indian corn.

Though you’ll probably see more of these in November for Thanksgiving. However, remember this kind of corn isn’t for eating.

20. Felt flowers should be all kinds of colors.

Yet, this one uses fake plastic foliage which I find odd. Nevertheless, I think the flowers are very pretty.

21. Sometimes a yarn flower wreath only has to be simple.

Well, this is rather quaint. Has only a few flowers but I really love the purple.

22. There’s always something sacred about pink flowers at a church.

Nevertheless, the church birdhouse does match the flowers. Love it.

23. The brighter the flowers, the more festive the wreath can be.

I guess this is a summer luau wreath from the looks of it. Still, great for outdoor parties.

24. A rose wreath can sometimes come with an appropriate birdhouse.

Though I’d love the wreath just as much without a bird and its domicile. So pretty.

25. Sunflowers and plaid always go together.

Seems like this was made for a more summery occasion. Perhaps an outdoor picnic or two?

26. You can even make an autumn wreath with purple.

Well, some of the autumn foliage does look a bit dead. But this is nevertheless lovely.

27. The garden tools on this look a bit rusty.

Well, if you’re decorating a rusty garden shed, this is the wreath for you. Otherwise, it doesn’t really bring out anything sunny.

28. There’s nothing to love more than heart of the lily of the valley.

Sure it’s a flower that’s often used at weddings which has a noxious poison that killed someone off Breaking Bad. But there’s nothing you can’t resist about this wreath.

29. Sometimes you’d wish you were sailing on the calm seas.

This maritime wreath is in crochet as you might see. Yet, I really like the lighthouse in the center.

30. Large white flowers always leave an impression.

Not sure what this flower is supposed to be. But it surely does blossom. Yes, I know the flowers on this are fake.

31. Perhaps a steering wheel off a ship can look good in your mess hall?

Not sure if this counts as a wreath. But since it’s listed on Pinterest as such, I’ll take it.

32. There’s something wild about this rose wreath.

Well, it has a few pine cones and foliage on it. Not sure if it’s suited for fall. But seems like it.

33. Nothing says spring like a butterfly and a bee.

And they’re even more quaint in crochet form. Still, the flowers are quite lovely.

34. With a wreath of rope, it’s anchors away on the high seas.

This looks pretty easy. Only has some starfish, a wooden anchor, and rope.

35. There’s nothing lovelier than a spring wreath of peonies.

Just remember these flowers come after the daffodils. And I’ve never really saw them in that color before.

36. A wagon wheel always makes a wreath of hospitality.

Given the cowboy boot, I guess this for a western themed home. Watch out for the spur those. There’s a reason why most cowboy outfits don’t include them.

37. Your flowers will always get a sprinkle on this garden wreath.

I have to admit, this is a rather clever wreath. Though that’s not real water coming from the spigot.

38. Shells and twigs make a great combination.

Well, that’s a colorful shell collection. Great for a beach house. So pretty.

This one has some tree slices on it for a rustic touch. And includes flowers to match.

Wonder which birds these feathers are from. Because they seem like they could be real given the colors.

Well, wreaths don’t always have to be round, you know. But I really love the purple flowers on this.

Goes without saying that it’s a summer wreath. Unless if you’re talking about the Polar Bear Club, then it’s a winter wreath.

Sure it may not go as well with the flowers. But at least it holds up well.

Now this is a real gardener’s wreath. Perfect for a spring greenhouse or garden shed.

Well, that’s kind of quaint. Great for any front door and then some. Love it.

Even includes an anchor and some robe. Yet, if it’s on board, don’t use it as a flotation device.

Well, this seems like you’d see out of a catalog. And it even has a white picket fence.

Now that’s a creative nautical wreath if I’ve ever seen one. And I’ve seen plenty. Yet, the rope is quite tough.

Nice that it has white flowers to match. Though like the white tulle going down the best.

50. Curler wreaths look great at any salon.

Because nothing says, “I fix hair for a living” like this kind of wreath. Looks like a stylist’s dream.

After all, you can’t have a peacock wreath without peacock feathers. So lovely.

52. Summer flowers shine in a gingham wreath.

Almost gives you an impression of a summer picnic. Because sunflowers usually bloom during that time of year.

Okay, maybe not quite. But it surely makes the bird seem right at home.

This one has lovely flowers of pink and purple. Wouldn’t mind having this on my door. Love it.

The Burning World of Candles

Before Thomas Edison’s incandescent light bulb paved the way for electric lighting on the mass market, people used candles to light their homes at night. As anyone knows about candles, they don’t light the room nearly as well as sunlight and other light sources. And that they must be handled with caution since open flames are a major fire hazard. Yet, you probably didn’t know that candles were also used for heat and to tell time. Nor were they always made from paraffin wax like nowadays. For there were candles made from tallow (beef or mutton fat which gave off a foul odor when burned), beeswax (which was more expensive than tallow), spermaceti oil (it’s from a sperm whale’s head that’s considered very valuable according to an abridged version of Moby Dick I read), and colza oil (which is an expensive lubricant for machinery derived from a plant). Nevertheless, thanks to electricity, candles are either used as a novelty for a romantic dinner, ceremonies and special occasions (especially in religion), or as light sources during a power outage. Oh, and many people bestow candles as gifts when they couldn’t think of anything better to buy (like in the SNL Christmas Candle sketch). You’d even have scented candles. Of course, while most candles usually consist of a long wax column with a wick, the ones I show don’t fit the mold. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of interesting candles you might not want to burn (or would).

After all, these are spool candles. What better way to bring light while you sew? Oh, wait, electricity.

Actually this is merely a candle which you can’t eat. But you have to like how it has marshmallows and a graham cracker.

Though I highly doubt it. But I suppose these only have a short wick to them.

As you may know, the lily of the valley is a flower used in weddings that’s been known to kill someone on Breaking Bad. So this candle may be less dangerous in comparison. When it’s not lit though.

Hope these smell like pine, too. Or else I’d be very disappointed. Seriously, pine smells so nice. Like floor cleaner.

Yes, cheesy candles do exist. And no, it’s not made from real cheese. Like head cheese which is actually meat.

However, when they’re lit, I’d advise against tossing them. Because doing that can burn a house down.

The High Flying World of Kites

Since their invention in ancient China, kites have originally been used for measuring distances, testing the wind, lifting people, signaling, and communication for military operations. The earliest Chinese kites were often rectangular and flat as well as decorated with mythological motifs and legendary figures like dragons. Some were fitted with strings and whistles to make music while flying. But it was from China, kites were introduced to Cambodia, Japan, Thailand, India, Korea, the western world, and possibly Oceania. Though originally seen as a mere curiosity in Europe, kites would be used in the western world for scientific discovery and invention. Every American child learns about Ben Franklin and his famous kite experiment leading to the discovery of lightning as electricity and his invention of the lightning rod. Yet, the Wright brothers also used kites when developing the first airplane in the late 1800s. And they were used in for scientific purposes in meteorology, aeronautics, wireless communications, and even photography. But since the Wright brothers made their first flight and WWII, kites have mainly been used in recreation. However, all over the world you’ll find all kinds of kite festivals and competitions, especially in Asia. Nevertheless, despite living in the country, I wouldn’t be able to fly a kite in my back yard. Mostly because of safety issues with power lines. I mean the fact my back yard has a slew of power lines over it led to a bunch of trees being cut down for God’s sake, Anyway, kites come in all types, shapes, and sizes. You’ll find sport kites, power kites, weather kites, man-lifitng kites, fishing kites, underwater kites, and even fighting kites that could kill people. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a glimpse into the high flying world of kites.

Yes, these kites can get quite large as you can see. But I really love the colors which I think are perfect for Easter.

A Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that’s doomed to sail the ocean forever and can never make port. Seeing one is an omen of doom.

I call this design, the sting ray. Mostly because it resembles a ray. And a mere ray doesn’t capture the image for me.

This kite is of the space shuttle which NASA no longer uses. However, it’s still pretty cool.

As we all know, jewelry may look pretty when worn, but it doesn’t last forever. Pieces might break while others might get lost. This is especially the case with costume jewelry that’s often made of inferior materials for the mass market designed to look like the real thing. However, while some people may dispose of broken jewelry entirely or donate outdated pieces found at their grandma’s house, some may decide to repurpose it. For instance, they could take old jewelry pieces and uses them in collages, decorative items, bridal bouquets, wreaths, or other jewelry. You will find a lot of these on Pinterest and in Etsy listings. Many of the jewelry collages you might see usually consist of stuff associated with Christmas, particularly trees. And I have shown you a few of these on my Christmas craft posts twice. But they’re not just for Christmas. Not to mention, many of these projects usually consist of the flashy vintage costume jewelry than anything. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a glimpse in to the second life of old jewelry.

You see, these jewelry collages don’t have to be Christmas trees. This one is even in a turned square frame.
