As with last year and the year before, it’s on to the Christmas village houses. Though what you might see may be a store shelf, they’re nevertheless dazzling for any Christmas home. For the big hobbyists, a Christmas village may take a lot of time and space to assemble. Which explains why me and my family don’t have one. Though some might use some kind of arrangement like a shelf or cabinet. Not to mention, many of these houses may come with accessories like Christmas trees and reindeer. Still, do a search on these houses and you’ll find plenty in bright colors and glitter which can either go on your display mantle, table, or train tracks. So for your reading pleasure, I give you another assortment of Christmas villages and houses for your very own winter wonderland.

  1. Put all your small glitter houses on one tree.

88. You might want to give some bones about this mobile home.

This one kind of gives me the creeps. Because most people don’t have skeletons outside their houses.

89. You might find something slithering at this frame house.

Apparently, this is basically a snake infestation. But I do like where the chimney is located.

90. There’s something coming from that manhole on the road.

Kind of reminds you of what you’d see in a monster movie. Still, the house seems rather doomed by the looks of it.

91. Perhaps you might want to relax at this autumn cabin.

Sure it may not seem like Halloween. But it kind of has a rather rustic flair.

92. A haunted house can stand out with colorful stripes.

Sure it might have pastel colors. But it’s definitely a Halloween house with graves.

93. Bright colors always make a rather whimsical haunted house.

This one seems rather like a kid friendly craft project. Still, the ghosts are a delight.

94. There are some ghosts who prefer festive accommodations.

This one is made from ceramic. But you have to love trimmings and towers.

95. Nothing can make a house more haunted like Halloween candy.

This one has a rather glittery facade. But you can’t help but trick or treat with this.

96. Bet you find an orange spider on this house.

Well, at least on the top. Still, the black trees on this one are rather imposing.

97. Sometimes a ghost might prefer a glittery home.

It even has some glittery windows and tombstones. Perfect for those who like shiny things.

98. This house seems shaped like a coffin.

Well, in a way. Yet, it has a door in the corner under the word “Boo!”

99. I suppose this is a home to a druggist.

Still, would you want to get any drugs from this place? Probably not.

100. No amazing haunted house should go without a pumpkin

This one is green with black stripes. Still, the pumpkin adds a rather Halloween touch.

The Pastel World of Easter Village Houses

f15336c124d3e96a5b2b60f4f5aa422a

You may have noticed that my Easter posts so far have mostly been later editions of ones I’ve written in years past. Nevertheless, I also like to do Easter posts of items that I haven’t tried before. Village houses would be among them because I already did 2 of Christmas and one of Halloween. Yet, though Easter isn’t nearly as popular as either, it’s up there even if John Oliver calls it, “shitty Christmas” which may be borderline offensive but nonetheless accurate as far as commercialism is concerned. Though as far as my blog is concerned, I have little complaint since it gives me plenty of material. Anyway, the notion of Easter village houses is part of a phenomenon, I like to call Christmasfication, a word that might be my own invention. Now Christmasfication is what happens when one holiday’s tradition becomes part of another’s. Easter has been very much a product of this since it’s a religious holiday subject to a lot of commercialization since there are gifts involved bestowed by a mythical gift giver. However, it’s not to the extend Christmas is and has a greater focus on candy. Nevertheless, Christmasifcation doesn’t always have to involve integrating Christmas traditions, but it often does. Yet, with village houses, it kind of makes sense even on Easter. After all, pastel colors and cute critters are perfect for any spring towns. So for your reading pleasure I give you a treasure trove of pastel and springy Easter village houses.

  1. A spring house brings joyous Easter greetings.

This one has some imagery from vintage cards and silk flowers. Gives one a spring time feel.

2. A pastel house can use a white picket fence.

Doesn’t hurt it has a glittery base as well as a tree with Easter eggs. Like the flowers on the roof.

3. Cottontails Candy is always the place for sweets.

Not a big fan of light green and yellow together. But at least the name is clever.

4. A pink church with spring decorations always has the Easter spirit.

Though you wouldn’t see such a display until after Good Friday. Mostly because Lent is a penitential season.

5. Perhaps some greenery can suit your fancy.

Helps if you decorate the trees with Easter eggs. Though I’m not sure about the light pastel colors on this one.

6. Two chicks are often better than one.

Let me guess, the chickies are made from pom poms. Still, this is quaint.

7. A small gazebo doesn’t hurt.

Be sure to include different colored bunnies. Like how they included Easter eggs on this.

8. A yellow glitter house should always have a heart.

I often use putz houses because they look less manufactured. This is no exception. Like the bunny.

9. An Easter village always looks magnificent under a bauble egg wreath.

After all, pastel houses look great on a mantle meant to extenuate spring. Love the flowers.

10. Here we come to a simple white church with a pink roof and lamb.

Like I said, churches usually don’t bask in the Easter decorations until after Good Friday. But they do in these village sets in order to set an Easter feel.

11. The more color tiles the house has, the better.

You can also put an Easter egg in the doorway. Though I wouldn’t advise a green and yellow one.

12. A house of lavender is particularly springy for chicks.

This one seems all dolled up for Easter. Like the wreath at the top window.

13. How about a peep bunny above the front door?

Adding a flower to its ear and a yellow bow helps a lot. So cute.

14. A small pink church is always nice.

Helps if it glitters in the spring morning light. Though not sure about the roof.

15. A plaid yellow roof can sometimes be quite snazzy.

Okay, that’s pretty tacky. But at least it brings spring into the air.

16. It’s not spring without a little pink.

Yes, it might seem a bit feminine and sickeningly sweet. but at least it’s well made with some bunnies to spare.

17. Never saw an Easter egg fence before.

Though I don’t care for the house much. However, the fence is a rather unique idea.

18. An Easter church always has to stand out.

Each one has their own unique decorations. Some are more showy than others. Like the purple ones.

19. There’s nothing against having a fancy roof.

This canary yellow Easter abode has blue diamond lines. Not a fan of the color.

20. A church should always be fancy with flowers for Easter.

Now this one really gets into spring with its roof lined with pearls. Lovely.

21. An egg house is a perfect Easter dwelling.

Though I kind of wish it was a little fancier like an Easter egg. Though it certainly fits with the holiday.

22. Sometimes it’s best to go with holy simplicity.

This one just has trees with Easter eggs on them and little else. Well, it does have some pink window trim.

23. A candy house is always springtime fun.

After all, Easter is a huge holiday for candy. So such a house is quite fitting.

24. Now that’s what I call a carrot orange Victorian.

Reason why we have orange as an Easter color at all has to do with carrots. Though I think it’s a loud color to put on an Easter house.

25. A small Easter home should always shine with distinction.

Like the bushes and flower decor on this. So simple and small. But yet, so elegant.

26. Some a blue roof can bring a solace of spring charm.

This one has pink doors and windows and Easter egg trees. All surrounded by a white fence.

27. Pastel roof tiles often give a house an Easter touch.

Even has some Easter eggs and flowers. Like the bows on the windows.

28. An Easter village can often look lovely at night.

Because most of the Easter village houses light up. But the scene is nonetheless pretty.

29. Seems like this house has high carrot patch.

Now this is a house a bunny can love. Then again, bunnies aren’t as into carrots than we think.

30. An Easter candy house always has a sweet disposition.

This one has a candy tree with other decorations. It’s an adorable Easter home anyone can love.

31. Sometimes it helps to dress a plain Easter house with fancy decorations.

I showed this house earlier. Yet, this one has some jewels, lace trim, and more decor to the trees.

32. An egg house can even have 2 stories.

Like how it’s purple and has a chimney. So pretty even when lit.

33. A blue house with yellow trees can be a springtime haven.

Though I’d much prefer purple and pink. And perhaps more flowers than Easter eggs.

34. Is this supposed to be a house or a church?

Looks more like a house with 2 windows. Though I’m not thrilled with the pink roof.

35. Nothing entices an Easter bunny like a multicolor carrot fence.

Another clever fence concept. Like the little chick and bunny, too.

36. A purple Easter cottage should come with all the trimmings.

Now this is quite fancy. Like the little eggs and bunnies on here. So cute.

37. This little cottage has a flowery disposition.

Because it has only 3 of them at the facade. But the bunny seems quite happy.

38. Lattice always makes a home more quaint.

So does an outdoor staircase. Like the cute little chickies out front with the Easter egg decorated trees.

39. This little blue bird house has some colorful sights of spring.

The tree out front is decorated with Easter eggs. And you can see a nest of colored eggs.

40. This little orange cottage comes with an Easter egg fence.

They’re even decorated with rich detail. Not sure about the orange house though.

41. A purple cottage must have an Easter egg door and a pastel candy roof.

Helps if the doorway has carrots side by side. Like the green leafy tree, too.

42. You can always put a little spring in an Easter house.

You can even see some Easter eggs and flowers. Even on the lavender roof.

43. Why settle down in a burrow when you can have a purple house of your own?

Though I think these bunnies might have trouble fitting in the doorway. However, sometimes these houses aren’t made to scale.

44. This small spring home is a lamb paradise.

It’s a rather simple abode with colorful trees. But is all encrusted with glitter.

45. An Easter church should always be in a festive mood to celebrate.

Now this is quite fancy for Easter. But it’s surely lovely with a pink wreath, Easter eggs, and bunnies.

46. An Easter beach house always needs to be pastel blue.

You can tell it’s a beach house due to the shell motifs on the windows. Also, it has a fish shape somewhere.

47. This blue cottage includes a shiny wreath.

Well, if it weren’t for the decor, this would be a normal blue house. Like the Easter egg tree, by the way.

48. A pink ribbon on a cottage is a fine Easter touch.

Helps that it goes with the house. And the Easter bunny and egg decorations.

49. A purple spring house should always be the place for flowers.

There’s even a green bunny in the doorway. Though I like how the flowers go with the house.

50. Gumdrops make great Easter decoration.

You can also include peppermints and Easter style candy canes. Yes, they have them.

51. Now this is a candy decorated house any little chick would love.

Includes some Easter eggs with trees. And the chick is covered in pink cotton candy.

52. This yellow house brings in a beautiful blue butterfly.

By the way, I didn’t find as many Easter village houses as I would’ve wished. So a lot of them come from Etsy.

53. Seems like this bluebird has its eggs in a hanging basket.

Though I don’t think it’s the best place for them. Because that basket can fall.

54. A pink fence is always great for a humble blue home.

Doesn’t matter if you have chicks, birds, and bunnies living there either. Like the flower wreath.

55. I guess you can sometimes go with a rustic blue for Easter.

Helps you have a little chick on a nest near the roof. So cute.

56. Spring flowers are always grand for April showers.

Helps that Easter is in April, too. Then again, March can also be a rainy month.

57. A light pastel house with candy can be a sweet home, indeed.

This one has an interesting looking tree and a bunny clad in pastel garb. Nevertheless, I think it’s lovely.

58. Flowers and eggs can always make an Easter house a home.

Doesn’t hurt if it’s purple either. Like the lovely tree with Easter eggs on it.

59. Sometimes you can even find a whole Easter village in one basket.

This was part of a putz house kit. But I show it anyway since it’s so unique to behold.

60. This home really makes an Easterly impression.

Even has the word “Easter” in front with block lettering. And a purple ribbon, too.

61. This pink abode even has a pen for the chickies.

Well, it’s a purple pen, but still. Doesn’t endear me to the Easter bunny residing here.

62. A plain lavender house can bring pure Easter joy.

Only need a bunny and an Easter egg tree and you’re all set. Though the flowery wallpaper roof goes quite nicely.

63. A shrub door can sometimes give a home a naturalistic charm.

Well, this one has some flowers and a brown rabbit. But it’s a rather ingenious design.

64. There’s nothing that could make a candy cottage ever sweeter.

This one looks similar to a candy house I showed you earlier. But this one has 2 candy roof tops instead of one.

65. How about a plaid roof on a lavender church?

Well, purple is the color of Lent. Just not in that kind of shade though.

66. The Easter Bunny always likes to furnish his home with flowers.

However, I find this pipe cleaner Easter Bunny kind of creeper. But I really love the glittery roof.

67. A pink house should have a roof that really stands out.

Helps if it has 2 chimneys to give a small town charm. Like the decor on the picket fence.

68. Sometimes it helps if you go all out on an Easter house.

This one boasts bolder colors than what you’d usually see. But it’s set for spring so it goes on this post.

69. A glittery Easter house always shimmers in the spring time.

For some reason you see a lot of glitter on these putz houses. Like the flower on the roof.

70. Wonder what’s with hanging eggs on a tree.

Okay, I understand it’s an Easter tradition. But you have to like the bunnies and the roof in this one.

71. So the top window is a little askew on this house.

You can at least see how it enhances this spring Easter scene. So cute.

72. I sure hope this little blossom shoppe is open.

After all, spring has always been a prime time for flowers. And lovely blossoms, this store does boast.

73. Sometimes it helps if you let some things grow on the roof.

This one almost looks real with the grass on the roof. The well is nice, too.

74. Sometimes, the more colorful eggs, the better.

Once again, pipe cleaner bunny strikes on this one. And I think he looks really weird with his arms and legs.

75. I guess this pink Easter house goes for the mint impression.

Like how it has a chocolate bunny and colorful stripes. Lovely.

76. Of course, this pink Easter house is a real candy sensation.

What the hell does gingerbread have to do with Easter? That’s Christmas food.

77. Colorful butterflies prefer the smaller cottages.

Nice how it has a lot of flowers surrounding it. Also, like the little chickie.

78. An Easter egg tree should always show its true colors.

See how well it goes nice with the small cottage? Charming.

79. A purple butterfly always brings a needed springtime touch.

Yet, butterflies aren’t often represented in Easter. Not sure why. But I think it’s lovely.

80. When in doubt, try some lighter shade.

Then again, pastel colors are normally associated with Easter, anyway. But you have to see the bushes in front.

81. Sometimes a green house always works best.

I’m not too crazy about that pill green shade. But it somehow works.

82. This little purple cottage is a hopping Easter haven.

Well, this is kind of charming if you look at it from this angle. Not sure about the yellow awning though.

83. Multicolor roofs seem all the rage these days.

I guess this one was shaded in. Like the tree and the chicks.

84. Seems like these 2 bunnies just got hitched.

I guess this is a church since it has stained glass windows. But I’m sure the bunnies will be fruitful and multiply. Because rabbits reproduce like crazy.

85. A pink glitter house is just the Easter ticket.

Nice to have a sweet quiet home to go to. Like the jeweled butterfly the best.

86. An Easter tree house is a fine home for bunnies.

This one was brought to you by the magic of paper mache. Yet, you have to love this.

87. A green Easter house needs a flowery ribbon.

Helps if it’s purple with daisies, too. And it’s matched by a similarly decorated tree.

88. My, this tall pink church has a high steeple.

And I see a little birdie has made itself at home. So lovely.

89. An Easter house can stand out if it’s blue and yellow.

Helps if it has a bunny on the roof. Like the little bunnies and chickies.

90. With this purple house, spring has finally sprung.

Sure it’s similar to a few others. But it’s nonetheless stunning to behold.

91. A striped roof is always fitting with a cyan glitter house.

This is lovely. Like the Easter egg tree with the columns.

92. A yellow house with flowers is always rather sunny.

And I see this bunny’s really looking forward to Easter. Like how the flowers are purple, too.

93. It’s Easter time at this little pink cottage.

This home boasts pastel tiles and Easter eggs galore. Even an Easter egg at the door.

94. Looks like this Easter bunny has smoke up the chimney.

Sure it’s not as flashy as some of the other houses on here. But it has a nice homey appearance to it.

95. Chicks will always find a home in this glittery purple house.

The door on this is incredibly beautiful to behold. Also like the chickies.

96. A small Easter cottage only needs a few flowers.

Well, you might have flowers on the roof and chimney. But this is nonetheless quaint.

97. Chicks always appreciate a house with striped columns.

Well, those that are little balls of fludd anyway. But the candy cane striped columns on this are amazing.

98. With this little blue house, you’d find a pink bird on a chimney.

Even has a tree and flowers outside. Not sure about the windows though.

99. You can’t miss a bright orange house on Easter, no matter how small.

This little cottage is done in some unique style you’d see on Etsy. Nevertheless, it’s amazing.

100. Are those bricks or clouds on that house facade?

Another specially designed house. But one that brings in the spring. Love it.

The Sweet Candy World of Gingerbread Architecture

gingerbreadhouse

Two to three years ago, I did a gingerbread house post that was more or less suited to mock the tacky houses I’ve seen on the internet. However, since gingerbread houses are all the rage at Christmas time, I plan to do a post that shows all the great houses you’d see since there are plenty from Pinterest and other websites. Anyway, though gingerbread has been around since medieval times and was used to celebrate certain occasions, gingerbread houses didn’t really become all the rage until the early 1800s in Germany after the wake of the Grimm fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel.” And we all know that fairy tale centers on two abandoned children who befall on a gingerbread house that’s actually bait for a witch’s kiddie trap. Yes, it’s disturbing. But food historians claim that people made gingerbread houses before that in Germany. Yet, these suddenly became popular during Christmas and the rest is history. Today many families built gingerbread houses this time of year as a tradition and there are even contests for it. And not all of these structures are houses either. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of gingerbread houses that look good enough but too pretty to eat.

  1. A gingerbread US Capitol contains mints and plenty of frosting.
Sure it might look good on the outside. But the inside may contain a government body with a lower approval rating than pond scum.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas with These Village Houses (Second Edition)

74c6e4e6be54c68936ba748cc9e5f890

Last year, I did a post on Christmas villages and houses. Since long ago, so many people have engaged in this tradition that you’ll find companies selling Christmas houses for the season. Hell, many sell houses for Halloween and Easter villages as well. Nevertheless, this practice can be very expensive as you see in the image above. Yet, there are plenty of people who make their own Christmas village houses as I’ve seen on Pinterest. Sometimes they can be in pastel colors with a vintage look to them. Sometimes this isn’t the case. Yet, since I had a lot of Christmas village house pictures left over, I thought it would be best to use some of them for another post for this year. So for your yuletide reading pleasure, I give you another assortment of Christmas village houses. Hope you enjoy these.

  1. A small cottage always can use some Christmas trees.
This one even has a snowman. Yet, I think the tree on the right stands out more in this display.

This one is in blue, red, and white. Doesn't have as flashy decor as the other one, but it's quaint.

The Haunted World of Halloween Village Houses

179f0a33aed914528571b507ce8a72aa

Last year, I did a post on the Christmas village houses which has a long tradition. But you might not know that some traditions that were used exclusively for one holiday could be applied to others. For instance, there aren’t just marshmallow peeps for Easter anymore. Still, other than profit margins, the idea of adapting the Christmas villages for Halloween kind of makes sense. After all, Halloween provides a great opportunity for a spooky village with haunted houses and other buildings. Besides, it’s a very popular holiday that people really get into. And yes, the same companies who sell Christmas village houses are also in the Halloween business. You’ll find not just haunted house collectibles, but also shops with Halloween sounding names, scary figures, and even a gazebo made of skeletons. Like their Christmas counterparts, these little Halloween towns can become very elaborate as well as a very expensive holiday hobby. Yet, like the Christmas villages, there are plenty of people who make their own haunted abodes for their miniature haunted neighborhoods in their home. So for your reading pleasure, I give you some Halloween houses and towns.

  1. Feel free to check into the Bates Motel but you can never check out.

63. I don’t think you’ll like what you’ll discover here.

The walls seem a bit rusty and the wood a bit worn. Also, bats might live here as well.

64. This houses is a perfect place for a skeleton to rest his bones.

Nice that it has bloody windows and a coffin door. Yes, it's in a similar style like one of the earlier houses. But that's beside the point.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas with These Village Houses

71ef065301f79ea43145498a70192721.jpg

Another big Christmas tradition pertains to Christmas villages where people make a little yuletide world within their own homes or at some public venue. You see these often with toy trains as well. Now the tradition for these little Christmas villages is rooted in the Moravian Church a Protestant denomination in central Europe that settled in places like Salem, North Carolina and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It mostly started with putting a nativity scene at the base of the Christmas tree called a putz. But these displays soon became more elaborate and by the early 19th century would include scenes from the Bible like Noah’s Ark. By the mid-19th century, the putz began to include more secular elements such as the Christmas village scenes you see today. And they also have villages pertaining to Halloween and Easter as well. Now this can be a rather expensive tradition since many buildings and figures used are usually made from ceramic and porcelain, which might come from sets. However, there are plenty of people who make their own houses with craft store supplies and other stuff lying around. It’s pretty fascinating stuff. So for your reading pleasure, here I give you some miniature houses for these Christmas villages.

  1. Of course, almost every Christmas village needs their own gazebo.
0d753d59dda269245241f93c0b9d114d

Now this one has a bright blue roof and roses on top. But it has a Christmas tree within its bounds.

2. To light up a Christmas house, a string of pearls will do.

2a276ee96556c4f72289fe3fd434cd49

And it appears these pearls are on the roof. Also, the windows seem covered in tinsel. And the figures seem about too tall for the doorway. These things aren’t done to scale.

3. When it comes to Christmas houses, red really stands out.

2bedfa0d0031f403b27db470cbf68ccc

This one seems to have a wreath at the front door and a snowman. And it’s on a stand. Still, this is quite cute. Love the snow on the roof.

4. Of course, you find plenty of churches among the Christmas villages. Many with steeples.

2fe689c70452da9863e680a669e6a774

And this blue one seems to have no glass windows and a lot of snow on the roof. Wonder if the steeple doubles as a lightning rod of some sort.

5. For a lovely Christmas house, it helps to add glitter.

3d492c3324c12fb7497323febc1783cf

Now a lot of these houses use glitter to capture the effects of the glistening snow. But as we all know, glitter can sometimes make a mess if you aren’t too careful.

6. For the surrounding foliage, the ornaments always have to match the house.

0fdc9bedab8a903456a7ac37202bfb2a

Now most people don’t decorate their trees in their yards. But you see this a lot in Christmas village houses. Nevertheless, I like the wreath on this one.

7. When it comes to Christmas villages, some can be quite elaborate as they may be.

4ef0eb9c1cb36.preview-620

This is meant to be a village near a coastal town, possibly in New England. And yes, it includes a wooden ship near the bay. But yes, someone had too much time on their hands.

8. For roof tiles, you can’t go wrong with using pine cones.

5a6d5e19d1a822eed7f7d4213ab4684b

Now this village seems to be built on some miniature garden. But the roofs look fairly realistic thanks to using pine cones. Not sure about the trees.

9. If you can’t light a Christmas house up from the windows, use some wreaths and garlands.

6a00e54ed958f38833017d3c5d6227970c

Now this one looks like it was homemade as you can see by what the roof and trees are made from. But I do like the red bows and fake branches. Very Christmasy.

10. If you think Christmas houses are too expensive, just think of what you can do with a small cardboard box and construction paper.

6a00e54ed958f388330120a7205b8c970b

Not sure if lime green is a suitable color for a house of any kind. But I think this one is quite cute to say the least.

11. With this Christmas village, every house and building has its own place.

6b6b0b3412fa2a11d43d1ae54199eb93

Now this looks like a cute idea. Love how each little house has its own shelf by the top. I’d like to take a closer look.

12. I don’t know about you, but something tells me this place is toasty inside.

6e9b305cf92c50ff0b62f2a098049d86

I think those are supposed smoke stacks coming from the chimney. But it kind of looks like they’re windblown trees at another angle.

13. If you don’t want kids getting to your Christmas village, you can always use a cabinet to display it.

7c9c19e11b119492fe03452c610c6f7b

Now this is quite elaborate if you ask me. Seems to resemble a little village at night when you look at it. Love how they used a starry background.

14. When it comes to Christmas villages, some can take over a living room floor.

7d93b3189c5a47045cd3d544f3970bbf

Now this is why a Christmas village can be a rather expensive hobby. And yes, it’s near the tree. Still, if you have kids or pets, please keep them away.

15. Seems like this house has about 3 stories on it.

7ff0fe16864fcc5faf4f6dcfce648a6e

Now I’m sure you wouldn’t see a whimsical house like that in your neighborhood. But it’s quite charming and you can’t help but love it.

16. I suppose this is what Santa’s home is supposed to look like at the North Pole.

8bfd5e48d4fb9af1b9fecaf9c8c56ea4

Now Now this looks quite charming. Not sure of the Clauses having a lawn. But I think the house colors and decorations suit them.

17. Glitter and plaid would sure make any little Christmas house festive.

8d75118291c9c408436df7c9d4b7c838

Now this has golden glitter snow and a facade of plaid wrapping paper. Also has a lace ribbon tied in a bow. Like the windows, too.

18. If you like townhouses, you’ll find this especially charming.

08f6f8a6c26d8bfad015fc729e407b94

Now this consists of 3 houses in pastel colors. Nevertheless, I find such display particularly whimsical and adorable this time of year.

19. Of course, you can add some extra to go with the village display.

9a6f0d746fb80874a0e4b315bae51a0d

Now this is a display pertaining to a skating rink and a hillside. And the icicles are hung to give it more flair. Of course, in my area, you wouldn’t have snow outside.

20. At this country church, Christmas comes but once a year.

9f7c7794f7a05463a765e2e90f67d757

Now this is quite pretty. Seems like one of those little churches you see in movies. Like the decorations and the bell tower, too.

21. Still, you always have to put the toy shop right next to the music store.

83b87d4aa75472f2bf775530d905a09b

While the music store has bows and garlands, the toy shop has a Christmas tree. Still, it’s quite charming if you ask me.

22. Seems like Santa has just stopped here or the sleigh is just a decoration.

426cbe3fce39acfa20fcfa1a1a939e34

Now this house has two large decorated Christmas trees, a snowman, and Santa on his sleigh. It also has 2 chimneys and a wreath.

23. Think porcelain and ceramic is too expensive? Try cards and cardboard.

763d6de34e5fce4a2daf6247596e33a0

This church uses a lot of elaborate pieces of paper to cover it. And it has paper decorations as well. Still, I like the jingle in its bell tower.

24. Looking for a way to arrange your Christmas village? How about a corner shelf display.

811c592d6e5fde6f225f755614dd4f71

Now this seems like a nifty idea. And I see this area is dolled up with houses, lights, and cotton snow. Still, keep away from small children and animals.

25. Seems like this place is selling cut Christmas trees for $1.

94a7589b73e84f99b46918051390c599

Most of the time Christmas trees cost more than that. But not so at this snowman’s place. Still, it’s pretty cute.

26. While real houses have shabby colors, with a Christmas house you can have a glitter roof.

7550db65629ee08b28ab3a70a35bda40

Now this is a lovely house. Looks so rustic and quaint. But if it were real, it would sure have a large mortgage and heating bill.

27. Now this church certainly has decked the halls this Christmas.

1512e1925cbc9792ad5c25b95f7c360b

Yes, it’s a pink church with pink tinsel and pin Christmas tree ornaments. But it’s delightful and pretty nonetheless. And it lights up from the inside.

28. When it comes to decorating your Christmas trees, it helps that they match.

2d4c25fc64037b946113fac7e847812a

Now these Christmas trees are about even. And this place has a reindeer and snowman in front. Love the pink.

29. Nothing brings the spirit of Christmas to your home than a Victorian shabby pink Christmas village.

6888ba4588d551b6469a3b4a23e84875

I’ve seen a lot of such buildings on Pinterest. Not sure if they’re craft or professionally done. However, they are unique so they’ll go on.

30. Who says that you can’t have a church with 2 towers?

20513c5bce45c49176b1ec7a46480328

Now this is quite intricate. Love the towers and the stained glass window in front. And how it has 3 ways to enter or exit.

31. While most Christmas houses are miniature, there are some rather big ones like this.

039982d6dd718882105256078c914c64

Now this one is probably as big as a dollshouse and covered in paper. And yes, it has fairly realistic Christmas decorations. But it does look quite beautiful to say the least.

32. Seems like someone has gotten snowed in around these parts.

20801ede029224b40a53591129b8475d

Seems a little crowded under this roof. And there seems to be trees under there, too. Then again, not sure if it’s supposed to be made of snow.

33. You might’ve heard of a log cabin village. This one is made from sticks.

65622d91ca58394a4bf14079a50c2c1c

Now this looks quite rustic if you agree with me. Not sure if that’s supposed to be a barn or a church. Still, it’s pretty creative.

34. If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, I’m sure this house will suit your fancy.

7659d34678b10fc21dc25e94c7ed78bb

Now this looks so cute with a little snowman out front. Man, those look like big icicles. Yet, they enhance the house’s look. In real life, this wouldn’t be the case.

35. Of course, it doesn’t hurt when you put ornaments with the decorations.

957554de166956faa096cefc1b9a6659

Now this church certainly looks festive and Christmasy. Like the golden roof. And I also like that tower, too.

36. If you think one wreath isn’t enough, go with 3.

3000541 6.5 white house

Now this is a rather simple design. Just 2 chimneys, 3 wreaths, a few trees, and a garland on the fence.

37. If you want to make a Christmas house with glitter, make sure the foliage matches. Gold house means gold trees.

2ec2c952ea7f996b9750a2589f9a8bc8

Yes, I know there aren’t a lot of golden Christmas trees. Well, live ones anyway. Still, this is so pretty and sparkly.

38. When it comes to Christmas decorations, they really show up in beige.

173317cbf5b9528fc17ebab02524cb31

Now the tree is so petite and little. The wreath looks quaint. And the cross is somewhat askew. But it looks rather lovely.

39. On Christmas houses, you can always find ways to make them sparkle.

1355421833_lindad1

These 3 houses have some shiny beads, fake gems, and glitter. They also have some snowflakes and jingles.

40. For Christmas villages, nothing brings the holiday spirit than tables and trains.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Now you see a lot of Christmas villages with toy trains. And like this one, they tend to be in circles. Still, this is a lovely display and really lights up.

41. A Christmas village church is never complete without a nativity scene.

bf297d5fc6c17bb08db70b32d7c7c870

How they managed to find a nativity scene that small I’ll never know. Nevertheless, most churches usually have a nativity scene in front this time of year. Like the star on the bell tower, too.

42. When it comes to decorating your Christmas village house, you can go all out if you care.

b06549a63a2ed433b0d573299c5556f8

Now this house has so many decorations on here like tinsel, ornaments, trees, pearls, and a snowflake. Still, like the snow.

43. While many of these Christmas houses are in funky colors some look like any house on the street.

055921e2de91a8e4c781359ca3b42219

Not sure about the architecture on this one. Kind of looks lopsided to me. But I do like the decorations.

44. Sometimes a church tower is on top. Sometimes it’s on the side.

d1d89e51a71f2d744721d2ba4d9cf0bb

Now this is one of those Victorian pink shabby putz buildings. But I think it looks pretty with all the decor and cotton glitter snow.

45. You can always make a Christmas village lampost from paper, especially a Dickensian one like this.

d35fb8194f01a32c75827cca28c35de8

Wouldn’t think this was made from paper. But it does look quite quaint. Almost put this one in my craft post but I didn’t think it was appropriate.

46. For a more rustic and simple Christmas village, best go with a colonial.

8e94d0c74f5ce83b8cc78d2b9ebaaafe

Now this looks like a Christmas village house that’s not too flashy. Like how they have the wreath and the snowman. Also the windows are cool, too.

47. Of course, some people want their homes to look their best for Santa.

e246f8b4656086205f0ae89942eb13b3

Always has to be someone in the neighborhood who goes all out with the decorating. Luckily, Santa will just come in through the front door.

48. For some churches, a star on the tower has to stand out.

e277c50167953356c5d2c16f12f7c4b9

Yes, it has pink decorations. But you have to delight by how the star looks on the tallest tower. Wonder what’s in that present.

49. When you wish for a white Christmas, you can always add a snowflake on your home.

eca96af8101e3112fc108092d080bc4e

Yes, this is a bright blue winter wonderland house. And yes, there’s a snowflake on the front as well as tinsel at the borders.

50. When it comes to Christmas houses, they can be in as many colors as you like.

fcd02c9373aace1274f0ef2ce7837416

Now this one contains red, yellow, blue, and green. But it’s decorated by a wreath and some bottle brush Christmas trees. Like the snow here, too.

51. You may have heard of a Christmas house. But what about a Christmas barn?

4ee4586fa4ac61a2892ead9a669f7bd4

Didn’t know people actually decorated their barns for Christmas. Then again, perhaps this barn is more of a public venue for special occasions than anything.

52. If you want a more old-fashioned Christmas, you might like this brownstone.

62e2fd8dffe30cf97f66b6c9ff810511

Seems like most of the snow is on the roof. And every front window has a wreath. Not sure if I like the color.

53. Now this is what I called a really fancy barn.

ec6e70c6620b776e5a05510ba1ac7773

Yeah, Pinterest says it’s supposed to be a barn. Not sure if barns are supposed to look like that. I mean most I’ve seen don’t have towers.

54. Some homes have chimneys. Some don’t. But those that do, the chimney is usually made from brick.

b80c37e7a7eff62603a141370eaefe89

Now while most chimneys are usually at the side, this one is at the front. And I see cotton is used for smoke. Like the snowman.

55. Some cottages have more elaborate trimmings than others.

27b500303298dce03d7e860ef5f5e718

Now this might be a little bigger than the other examples. But nevertheless, it has a large wooden ship weather vane and other elaborate stuff near the roof and windows. Tree’s a bit lopsided.

56. Nothing makes a better Christmas house than one of green.

ba754de9b8762cf7d06467d49c399953

Now a green house with red windows and doors is certainly a Christmasy house, indeed. Doesn’t hurt if it has some decorations.

57. You know that you’re in the North Pole if you see a lamp post like this.

ffcdba5c3316f2ae611efe52d305fcb1

This is another one I was considering for my Christmas craft post. But since it looks like a miniature, I put it in this one.

58. Sometimes smoke is cotton while other times it’s of something covered in glitter.

79cee47e4fd5b99b861b9467308f146b

Now this one really has it all decked out for Christmas. The trees have ornaments and big stars. The roof is edged in tinsel. And there are figures in front.

59. Of course, for the low-income segment of your Christmas village, it doesn’t hurt to have a trailer.

eb29b55755355f374833beba0b80ab37

Yeah, I don’t think the lawn ornament is to scale. But a Christmas village trailer is a truly unique idea if you think about it.

60. For any Christmas house, it’s best to go with decorations of green and red.

96fcd9b41ad9bb7f91c7d1ffd5f1ddb1

Now this is quite festive. Has lots of beads and bows. Doesn’t hurt if it has a golden reindeer outside, too.

61. You can tell this is a Christmas house since it has its own balcony.

db3269499d5aa0eceaf7990d5ac147aa

Of course, if you just saw the tower, you’d think it was a church. No, it’s probably a house for someone of a higher tax bracket. Love the trees on this.

62. While you can decorate a Christmas house with wrapping paper, some can get very crazy with the colors and patterns.

a9bcb379a61b47511cb709e40e5dec8c

Now this looks like Lady Gaga’s dream house. And it has gold Christmas decorations, too.

63. For a more rustic Christmas, a log cabin brings an old-fashioned touch.

e8b35280814d0bd60a13d97653021a05

And it doesn’t hurt that it’s accompanied by a sled you’d see on Citizen Kane and a truck reminiscent of 1930s gangster movies. Still. the logs seem kind of flat for some reason.

64. A small wooden church is quite simple yet rather sturdy.

312b0663d7eb8f61277ffdd620753643

Now this doesn’t have a lot of decorations other than a wreath, lights, nativity scene, and star. But it looks so pretty to say the least.

65. You can set up your Christmas village anywhere, even on a cart.

3e0b59d0b3b180ca9bfa8865a246e502

I think this is from a baking cart. But somehow it looks like the work of someone with way too much time on their hands. Also, those branches look quite big.

66. I suppose this one comes with a separate garage.

SONY DSC

Then again, the buildings might be connected. Nevertheless it seems to have a lot of snow splotches on the roof. Like the fence decorations.

67. For a white Christmas, a white church always needs snow.

a84841168487d2093ef9dddf003f1c0a

Now this mostly has snow on the roof and the steeple bell tower. Yet, it sure is pretty.

68. A simple house like this for the holiday season always has to be blue and pink.

fdfbfe314191fe4f28d3de48e1777e45

Now this doesn’t look like a real house. But I do love it with how the top window resembles a snowflake. Like the trees, too.

69. Of course, when it comes to scale, some figures might be larger than some of the doorways.

86866669d54d6cdc9f06175f13c51338

Now the cat and the girl really don’t seem to fit through this house’s doorway. Yet, I do love the decor on this such as the tinsel and the wreath.

70. When it comes to Christmas churches, you can’t beat one of glittery blue.

a103b47ce74bc1097598a503227791b0

Now this one has a picture taken by an angle. Yet, the only way you can tell it’s a Christmas decoration is how it’s surrounded by 2 bottle brush trees.

71. A bright Christmas house always is of yellow and pink.

2b71f8874d522813971ac3919783852b

Now this is a lovely house. Like the tinsel and tree decorations. Quite ingenious.

72. Nothing makes a Christmas cottage than being decorated in pearls.

c47effca1a0fde4da8e95407234a550c

Now this looks like a little girl’s dream and it’s quite cute. I really like the purple roof on this.

73. Now this blue Christmas house is sure to stick out for Santa.

a10de1cc0dda93f774ae9ce8e2b6cf2f

I think this might be the biggest blue house in my post. Then again, the picture was taken at close range. Yet, I do like how the roof is covered in a glistening snow.

74. To bring some perk to your Christmas village, go with pink.

43725fc65d908f9510857b8061efe405

Now this includes a house, a church, and a gazebo. And yes, it’s all quite pretty and glittery as you can see. But I like it.

75. Now this Christmas trailer sure looks well decked for the holiday season.

e0b5ae3f094c257077d1c432372f39e3

This one has pearl and tinsel decorations. Also, seems like someone just got a Christmas tree. Wonder it will fit.

76. I call this one, “church on the rocks.”

d1f4de429d381ae5b415a3ce948a454d

Sort of looks like it’s right beside a mountain or forest. But it has some kind of elegance in simplicity to it for some reason.

77. No Christmas house could ever be more lovely when it is in purple.

32a5fce3547b65b540110cf918a19740

Now this has some whimsy to it, especially with the Dr. Seusslike decorations. Still, I think it’s pretty.

78. Of course, a Christmas church always has to be surrounded by trees.

8d7b2bab2d3bd33cfd9951926e6dcf9c

Yes, this has a lot of white trees nearby to make it seem less plain. But I do love the snow near the cross.

79. A pink glitter house always needs a tall smokestack.

5ab1f5a38f33ed0dc004857c00395dc6

Yes, this is another pink glitter house. And yes, it’s cute and adorable. But its smokestack is something that defies so much explanation.

80. Of course, you can’t have a Christmas village without a school house.

263da17a01108c5610120b82ab8d43b4

Not sure what I think about this building, Doesn’t seem to be bright red and perky. But I do like the trees.

81. Some people dream to have a white Christmas house like this.

8c9cad830f4917da511863699469b5ef

As for me, I tend to wish for a white Christmas for once this year. Yet, whether there is, I have no way of knowing. Seriously, winter looks less crappy with snow.

82. Nothing makes a Christmas house better than a nice sloping roof for a change.

e559f3e2c3a2cdf5bfddf75ba23e9d0a

Now this is an interesting architectural design. But you have to like the facade on this one. Looks delightful.

83. A house of gold and white will always bring Christmas cheer.

cb54bda9fcbb2622deb39e413d8f0e6e

The roof may be gold. But it has some degree of snow on it. Still, while these gold trees look stunning, real trees like that look dead.

84. A teal church like this is sure to stun anyone viewing your Christmas village.

8f158fed3da8aebec232318604b7cf23

And it’s complete with a nice cobblestone path. Like the matching Christmas trees, too. Wonder what those black things are.

85. Now a pearl on the face gives this house an ideal finishing touch.

da6b439827b836f53b36fd7d15099082

This looks so quaint and cute in a baby blue. Like the present, wreath, and tree on this one, too.

86. Let me guess, I suppose this is what the candy store looks like.

e219bf4fb234d9a32098aa6161f47fb6

Luckily this looks more of a candy cane place than a gingerbread home. So no witches with hot ovens for children here.

87. When it snows, you can always use some Christmas greenery.

f8d1341f66b3ffa6cefb7e9f79f0c87c

Now the roof has garlands and the enclosure has trees with red ornaments. Not sure about the color since the brown doesn’t seem very appealing. The rest is fine.

88. For a Christmas village church, a simple red roof is all you need.

6798b8960f40c57f1603ab487e01d2dc

Now this one just has trees for Christmas to be in the spirit of the holiday season. However, it also has a gold bell in the tower. Love the glittery red roof.

89. A white church always has to have a silver roof of glitter.

81ef934c168abfada390c335666ebe0c

Now this looks fairly realistic for a church in some picturesque New England village. Nevertheless, it’s quite lovely.

90. Looks like Santa is about to visit this green house with the silvery snow roof.

9d68f8151dbb2e9dd516be934ba475e3

And it seems that Santa has 6 reindeer. Granted 9 might’ve been a bit too much. Still, I think the house is beautiful with silver snow and a green facade.

91. Of course, Christmas houses don’t always have to have a rustic or old fashion design.

ebda077c5f4fc14731f37c3b617d0c1e

This one has a more post WWII design. Not really into architecture after that period. But this looks quite Chirstmasy to say the least.

92. If you’re into more glass windows, perhaps a frame house may suit you.

3bc462188ebbb405c16c8cde82969cad

Like I said, I’m not a big fan of modern architecture after 1945. But I’m sure the light will definitely shine through this one.

93. This house has some ample room to put the car under the port.

b8988722e0dc182d8e90608fb0bd4045

Yes, this is another modern house that looks 1950ish. The poles are of candy cane pattern. But it’s sure to have windows big enough for light.

94. If you like the 1950s, then you’ll love this butterfly ranch house.

996a869bbe19b0dd16661cf41d05ae4d

Then another modern looking house from the Post War era. Love the color, but the style not so much. Really don’t dig into this type of architecture.

95. If you prefer the Renaissance, I’m sure this Christmas house will suit your fancy.

0c8d89baafc25d8ba5f03b672600035a

Now this is quite quaint. But to me, you don’t see a lot of houses like this unless it’s at a Renaissance festive. It’s more a European style.

96. Now this Christmas village seems like it’s all set on a mountainside.

e71dc18f996422cf937d203400dc0f1c

Seems like a lovely village from the looks of it. Still, seems like it takes a hell of a long time to assemble. Yeah, someone has too much time on their hands.

97. This purple house is guaranteed to put you into the holiday spirit this Christmas.

ef73abcffb6536239639b629ed91fe64

Now this looks quite whimsical and I love the decorations. I also like the fact that it’s purple, too.

98. When it comes to Christmas churches, stained glass windows are must.

2ebf08da8cd3f062eb31a47d0d19ab11

Now this one has a pink roof and bell. It also has stained glass windows in the front. Still, it’s quite lovely to say the least.

99. For Christmas you can’t go wrong with a house of candy canes and snowflakes.

a2745096372f848f8eb4032424cf409e

Now this house is mostly red and white save for the wreath and trees. Still, love the bow on this since it makes look so charming.

100. Nothing makes a Christmas village better than a simple blue glitter house.

51344aae295c0328cefbbd8c2daff386

Yes, it’s a little house with a small Christmas wreath on the front door. Yes, it only has one window. Still, I find it adorable.

This Old Birdhouse

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Seeing birds in one’s back yard can be seen as a pleasant sight for many during the spring and summer when all the birds seem to be fluttering around after spending the winter down south (though maybe the South likes the winter birds as well). Of course, there are plenty of ways to draw their attention such as bird baths as well as bird feeders. One particular feeder I have in mind is a bird house, which not only feeds them but also can house a nest now and then in some cases (for instance, they have bluebird houses). But bird houses are mostly bird feeders. Still, when it comes to feeding birds, people have been making birdhouses for a very long time, perhaps centuries. Now there are plenty of bird houses out there since many people tend to uses them as a craft project as well since it tends to involve some easy DIY know-how. I mean most of the time it involves putting a hole in a piece of wood, as well as nailing a bunch of wood pieces into a small house. And it’s inevitable that many tend to have certain finishing touches on them. So without further adieu, I welcome you to enjoy the wonders in the world of bird houses.

1. We begin with a look at the historical Franciscan bird missions of the American Southwest.

Though the Franciscan birds tend to be seen as benevolent to the indigenous birds at times, it's said that many of these bird missionaries tended to destroy a lot of indigenous cultures in the process. Then again, I heard that bird small pox tend to kill more indigenous birds than anything else.

2. In the winter, instead of flying south for warmer climates, your local birds could spend the winter in this swanky ski lodge built just for them.

Nevertheless, I hear they charge their avian lodgers fortune in birdseed. Maybe flying south for a winter in Boca Raton is a cheaper bet, but I'm sure the rates aren't much better there either.

Nevertheless, I hear they charge their avian lodgers fortune in birdseed. Maybe flying south for a winter in Boca Raton is a cheaper bet, but I’m sure the rates aren’t much better there either.

3. If your local birds want a more rustic look, this house is for them.

Now I think this might be a bird farmhouse made from scrap wood. But I'm sure it'll have plenty of room with stores of birdseed in the pantry.

Now I think this might be a bird farmhouse made from scrap wood. But I’m sure it’ll have plenty of room with stores of birdseed in the pantry. Not sure if any hill billy birds live there though.

4. For their birdseeding needs, your fine feathered friends can just stop at this avian general store.

I'm sure this place has everything your birds need for the winter whether it's seed, bugs, potential prey, hardware, clothes, and what not. They'll find it all here.

I’m sure this place has everything your birds need for the winter whether it’s seed, bugs, potential prey, hardware, clothes, and what not. They’ll find it all here.

5. When it comes to avian accommodations, nothing makes birds feel more at home than having a little log cabin in the woods.

Now for the bird wishing to get out from the cold and start a homestead, this little log cabin is the perfect fit, when there are trees around. Still, has a rustic feel to it.

Now for the bird wishing to get out from the cold and start a homestead, this little log cabin is the perfect fit, when there are trees around. Still, has a rustic feel to it like you’d see in a fancy set of Lincoln logs. It’s popularly noted that Aviraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin.

6. While putting real flowers on a birdhouse might be impractical, they’d certainly appreciate the floral artwork.

Now this is a lovely little birdhouse I wouldn't mind having in my yard. It seems so picturesque, especially the floral wreath around the hole.

Now this is a lovely little birdhouse I wouldn’t mind having in my yard. It seems so picturesque, especially the floral wreath around the hole.

7. If you’re living in the world of Dr. Seuss, these birdhouses are just the ticket.

And Lord knows how many birds you get to see coming to these houses in Dr. Seuss stories. However, it's kind of disappointing that these houses won't get the kind of birds you'd see in Horton Hears a Who.

And Lord knows how many birds you get to see coming to these houses in Dr. Seuss stories. However, it’s kind of disappointing that these houses won’t get the kind of birds you’d see in Horton Hears a Who.

8. Do any migrating birds need a place to eat during their journey south, then I’m sure they’ll enjoy this avian diner.

Of course, while they specialize in hamburgers and hotdogs, I'm sure they have plenty of other entrees migrating birds would love. Not sure if they have any bird waitresses on roller skates or avian juteboxes though.

Of course, while they specialize in hamburgers and hotdogs, I’m sure they have plenty of other entrees migrating birds would love. Not sure if they have any bird waitresses on roller skates or avian juteboxes though.

9. Of course, there are quite a few birds who belong to some kind of fraternal lodge order.

This one seems to belong to the Moose Lodge but I'm not sure whether the bears are a lodge order or not. Then again, they could be talking about actual bears.

This one seems to belong to the Moose Lodge but I’m not sure whether the bears are a lodge order or not. Then again, they could be talking about actual bears.

10. If you have any fishing birds in your area, this bait shop would be of service to their needs.

Of course, most fishing birds don't need a bait and tackle shop to catch fish. They just catch them with their beaks as God intended. Still, it's pretty clever.

Of course, most fishing birds don’t need a bait and tackle shop to catch fish. They just catch them with their beaks as God intended. Still, it’s pretty clever.

11. For the birds who think the ski lodge is cramped, say hello to this wooden bird castle complex.

Now this seems like a castle because it just appears so big from other birdhouses. But if it was in better proportion it would resemble something like a Victorian house. Still, it was either sitting in the garage for long periods or someone just had too much time on their hands.

Now this seems like a castle because it just appears so big from other birdhouses. But if it was in better proportion it would resemble something like a Victorian house. Still, it was either sitting in the garage for long periods or someone just had too much time on their hands.

12. Every bird should enjoy the comforts of home now and then.

Now this birdhouse has a nice stairwell as well as some of the latest styles of avian furniture, blinds, and a a swimming pool. Yes, this is the best birdhouse life has to offer.

Now this birdhouse has a nice stairwell as well as some of the latest styles of avian furniture, blinds, and a a swimming pool. Yes, this is the best birdhouse life has to offer.

13. If the mission style doesn’t suit your local Christian birds, you can always go with an avian meeting house.

Yes, I'm sure there will be some avian gospel choir in their singing hymns to Cheepsus. Okay, maybe not that, but it has a ringing bell for avian services.

Yes, I’m sure there will be some avian gospel choir in their singing hymns to Cheepsus. Okay, maybe not that, but it has a ringing bell for avian nondenominational services.

14. May I present to you, the Grand Birdepest Hotel.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist that pun. But still, I hope it has those interwar luxury interior accommodations and nothing resembling anything from the post WWII era. Still, I'm sure it houses a lot of birds during the seasonal migration periods, particularly rich ones.

Sorry, but I couldn’t resist that pun. But still, I hope it has those interwar luxury interior accommodations and nothing resembling anything from the post WWII era. Still, I’m sure it houses a lot of birds during the seasonal migration periods, particularly rich ones with greedy backstabbing sons, no doubt.

15. For those who prefer a more urbane avian accommodations, perhaps your birds might like this avian hotel.

Now this resembles something that you might see in almost any town or city. Still, I'm sure it would remind many city pigeons of home if they ever see something like this.

Now this resembles something that you might see in almost any town or city. Still, I’m sure it would remind many city pigeons of home if they ever see something like this.

16. Like birds but don’t like birdhouses? Then feed your birds with this bird gazebo.

Now this provides a nice resting place for local birds where they can relax and enjoy nature. Can also be used for weddings. Let's just hope that they don't smoke cigarettes under them.

Now this provides a nice resting place for local birds where they can relax and enjoy nature. Can also be used for weddings. Let’s just hope that they don’t smoke cigarettes under them.

17. For migrating barn swallows, nothing makes it seem right at home for them than an actual barn.

Now this one has a little farmer and tractor. But I have to love the rustic woodwork in this as well as the fine craftsmanship. But I'm sure this is way too small for any actual farm animals.

Now this one has a little farmer and tractor. But I have to love the rustic woodwork in this as well as the fine craftsmanship. But I’m sure this is way too small for any actual farm animals.

18. There are some birds who have a taste in the more modern architectural house styles.

Sometimes what might cool in one way, might not in another. For instance, as a birdhouse this structure looks cool. But as an actual house, it would look ugly.

Sometimes what might cool in one way, might not in another. For instance, as a birdhouse this structure looks cool. But as an actual house, it would look ugly.

19. Of course, even birds must have their own McDonald’s for a quick bite to eat.

Nevertheless, as a fast food restaurant, McDonald's is known to be a big contributor in avian cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes, and obesity. Also, I hear their bird employees are only paid minimum wage, too.

Nevertheless, as a fast food restaurant, McDonald’s is known to be a big contributor in avian cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes, and obesity. Also, I hear their bird employees are only paid minimum wage, too.

20. For the birds still missing being near the beach, this tiki beach tavern is for them.

I do like how this one is built like a tiki bar with all the little bird stools. Still, keep away from avian alcoholics. Of course, some of these birds are there for the worms, not the tequila.

I do like how this one is built like a tiki bar with all the little bird stools. Still, keep away from avian alcoholics. Of course, some of these birds are there for the worms, not the tequila.

21. There are birdhouses and then there are bird mansions.

Now this is supposed to be a replica of a house in Maryland created by a guy who specializes in these kinds of birdhouses. Still, whether bird or human, I'm sure one like this won't be very cheap in any case.

Now this is supposed to be a replica of a house in Maryland created by a guy who specializes in these kinds of birdhouses. Still, whether bird or human, I’m sure one like this won’t be very cheap in any case.

22. At times, you can build your very own bird log cabin from a bunch of twigs.

Now this one was built from willow twigs. Not sure what this person used to keep the pieces together. Still, it's quite a marveling effort in many respects.

Now this one was built from willow twigs. Not sure what this person used to keep the pieces together. Still, it’s quite a marveling effort in many respects.

23. A birdhouse like this will certainly make any homesick bird feel at home for the holidays.

I'm not sure of what to make with Christmas themed birdhouses. I mean these birdhouses are only appropriate for a certain time of the year. And birdhouses need to look appropriate all year round. Then again, maybe this is just built for decoration.

I’m not sure of what to make with Christmas themed birdhouses. I mean these birdhouses are only appropriate for a certain time of the year. And birdhouses need to look appropriate all year round. Then again, maybe this is just built for decoration.

24. As migratory birds always need rest now and then, a bird town offers a perfect rest stop.

Now there are a bunch of birdhouses like these. These 3 shown are Jail Birds Bail Bonds, Night Owls Bar, and Seedy's Liquors. Seems kind of like a seedy place to me. But I'm sure some birds must enjoy the place.

Now there are a bunch of birdhouses like these. These 3 shown are Jail Birds Bail Bonds, Night Owls Bar, and Seedy’s Liquors. Seems kind of like a seedy place to me. But I’m sure some birds must enjoy the place.

25. Of course, birds always need a place to go where nature calls.

I'm sure these outhouses aren't used for certain bodily functions. Because birds don't really care where or how they crap. I mean they'd crap when they fly if they want to.

I’m sure these outhouses aren’t used for certain bodily functions. Because birds don’t really care where or how they crap. I mean they’d crap when they fly if they want to.

26. Now this birdhouse not only gives the birds a place to eat, but also makes your neighbors think twice about possibly stealing any belongings from you.

Now this is actually pretty clever if you think about it. I mean it's a birdhouse but looks like a surveillance camera. It's also made from metal.

Now this is actually pretty clever if you think about it. I mean it’s a birdhouse but looks like a surveillance camera. It’s also made from metal in some parts.

27. This birdhouse has a built in birdbath where the local birds could feed and clean in the same spot.

I'm sure if this was put to use it would be covered in bird shit like most bird baths would. Seriously, birdbaths are disgusting. I'm not sure how some of them expect to get clean while bathing in their own shit.

I’m sure if this was put to use it would be covered in bird shit like most bird baths would. Seriously, birdbaths are disgusting. I’m not sure how some of them expect to get clean while bathing in their own shit most of the time.

28. Any lovebirds wanting to get hitched might want to check out this wedding chapel while they’re at it.

I wonder if any lovebirds are married there by an Elvis impersonator, if it's in Las Vegas. Still, I'm sure birds have been mating millions of years without one.

I wonder if any lovebirds are married there by an Elvis impersonator, if it’s in Las Vegas. Still, I’m sure birds have been mating millions of years without one. Just see some of the birds on my back porch.

29. For the birds wanting the punk rocker look, check out the Painted Bird Tattoo Parlor. They even do beak piercings.

Of course, this place doesn't take warblers. Sorry guys. Still, a lot of young birds' mothers won't be happy about this place.

Of course, this place doesn’t take warblers. Sorry guys. Still, I’m sure certain birds don’t understand how their avian employers tend to look down on those with tattoos and piercings.

30. A lot of times, birdhouses can range from the modern to rustic as well as from traditional to whimsical.

I don't know about you, but this one reminds me of the Burrow from the Harry Potter series for some reason. You know the Weasley family's house. I swear it looked just like that in the movies.

I don’t know about you, but this one reminds me of the Burrow from the Harry Potter series for some reason. You know the Weasley family’s house. I swear it looked just like that in the movies.

31. Every bird kingdom always needs its own bird castle fortress if you think about it.

Now this one certainly looks like a castle as I can see. Yet, I'm not sure if it will protect the finches from the possible eagle invasion.

Now this one certainly looks like a castle as I can see. Yet, I’m not sure if it will protect the finches from the possible eagle invasion.

32. While most birdhouses are made of wood, this one is fashioned from metal and blue tile or glass as it looks like.

Not sure whether the birds like it or not. But I like the blue finish to it. Looks like the ocean waves for some reason.

Not sure whether the birds like it or not. But I like the blue finish to it. Looks like the ocean waves for some reason. Yeah, it’s cool.

33. Of course, every bird should always know to knock first before entering.

Yes, this is another birdhouse outhouse. And it seems that a little man has been occupying it for quite some time. Still, I think it's quite funny.

Yes, this is another birdhouse outhouse. And it seems that a little man has been occupying it for quite some time. Still, I think it’s quite funny.

34. When it comes to birdhouses, some may opt for a sleek modern design.

Now this looks as if it can be an actual house, though perhaps I wouldn't be as in awe of it. Still, I like the flowers on it though.

Now this looks as if it can be an actual house, though perhaps I wouldn’t be as in awe of it. Still, I like the flowers on it though.

35. Nevertheless, it can be said that birdhouses can come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.

Now these birdhouses seem to almost blend in with the flowers. But funky colors will certainly draw a bird's attention, if anything. But I do think they're all lovely in their own way.

Now these birdhouses seem to almost blend in with the flowers. But funky colors will certainly draw a bird’s attention, if anything. But I do think they’re all lovely in their own way.

36. I daresay, I was going to put my mail in until I realized that it was not a letterbox.

Now this is a birdhouse from Britain as you can see by how it's painted red and has the initials ER on it. Still, seems like Britain seems to have a problem with birds living in their mailboxes as it looks like.

Now this is a birdhouse from Britain as you can see by how it’s painted red and has the initials ER on it. Still, seems like Britain seems to have a problem with birds living in their mailboxes as it looks like.

37. Have some local birds spend the holidays in this Christmas cabin.

Guess building Christmas themed birdhouses is a thing in the South, when many of the migrating birds make do for the winter. Still, it's quite ornate and cozy looking. Just needs some snow.

38. Hope the birds could make themselves at home in this cozy cottage.

Now this almost resembles a doll's house at first glance. That is, until you see it mounted on a tree. Still, love the small chairs.

Now this almost resembles a doll’s house at first glance. That is, until you see it mounted on a tree. Still, love the small chairs.

39. With birdhouses like these, you can start an avian neighborhood.

I like how these have a sleek design as well as come in a variety of colors. I'm sure any bird is going to recognize a birdhouse like that, that's for sure.

40. For the coastal birds, perhaps they can enjoy the view of the ocean with this lovely beach house.

Of course, this might look a little small but at least it's in bright colors and has a nice inner tube. But you can't really take that off if a bird is drowning since it's only used for decoration.

41. When you can’t get a rustic wooden barn birdhouse, an aluminum one will do nicely.

Now this seems almost like a model toy barn you'd see next to some antique doll's house. Still, I think I like the wooden rustic barn better. Aluminum makes it seem more industrial looking.

42. For the hippie birds in your area, you can’t do better than a hippie van.

Of course, they'd be certainly tripping balls if you put some bird seed laced with marijuana and brown acid. But they'd probably love it anyway. Man, I'd love to see a stoned bird fly.

43. For the country brid’s needs, here’s an old country store to their liking.

Love the little merchandise pieces on here. Really go wit the set up. But do the birds really need crap like that? Probably not, besides birdseed and possibly bugs.

44. For the Canadian birds out there, there’s nothing like staying in a large Canadian bird lodge.

I'm sure room and board at this Canadian bird lodge isn't cheap. But I do like the red roof on this thing. Wonder how many of the birds who stay there are professional hockey players.

45. Don’t like birdhouses? Then how about a bird swing?

Sure it might have a couple of bird towers for birdseed. But I think any bird would find a swing like this quite fun. Only wish they'd make stuff like this for humans.

46. Introducing the Burger King Fly Through.

47. Yes it has a faucet, but does it have running water?

I know this is supposed to be a garden birdhouse. But I'm not sure what any bird would want to do with fake pansies and artificial turf. Also, I'm sure the faucet is for decoration.

48. A welcoming sight for birds is a brown house with some bright pink columns as well as pink and baby blue trim.

49. When it comes to birdhouses, some just prefer a cottage in pink.

Now this is basically an avian equivalent to a Barbie dream house. Well, maybe not. But I think it's pretty nonetheless even in pink.

50. When it comes to decorating birdhouses, you can use just about anything.

51. Remember birdhouses could always be made from anything around the house.

Seems like this is a combination of an old timey coffee pot now used on camping trips and some sort of large barrel. Now what once served a cup of joe, now serves birdseed.

54. For the more mobile bird, you can’t do worse than a camper.

55. For a more retro camper, go with this shiny one here. Sure the birds will love it.

56. Of course, you can always have a birdhouse of an unusual shape like a cyclone.

61. Now there’s a birdhouse you can use to feed the birds and grow your plants at the same time.

Yes, I know it's kind of crazy, but I'm sure it must work somewhat. Then again, the plant might be in a smaller pot.

62. For you Bible believing folks out there, perhaps this Noah’s Ark birdhouse would look great in your backyard.

63. For Halloween, the local birds would find these bridhouses quite spooktacular if you get my drift.

Once again, I'm not sure about holiday themed birdhouses. This is especially the case on Halloween in the fall, when most of the birds would be flying south for the winter. Then again, maybe not so much in the South.

64. The coastal birds would really find themselves at home with this lighthouse birdhouse.

This one is called, "The Nautical Nest." I'm sure the light in this doesn't actually light up at night in search of stranded sea birds though.

65. This avian restaurant has everything to the birds’ content as a rest stop.

Let's hope the Live Entertainment doesn't include titmice actually showing their tits (which they actually don't have because they're birds for God's sake). Still, it's called "Wagon Wheel Restaurant."

66. While you’ve heard of gingerbread houses, I’m sure birds will take to this gingerbread birdhouse during the winter holidays.

I'm sure this isn't intended for actual use because a gingerbread birdhouse wouldn't be a long lived one. Seriously, I'm sure birds and other woodland creatures will surely devour it at some point.

67. Hmmm….didn’t know the birds have their own yacht club. Hell, didn’t even know birds had yachts.

68. For the birds traveling the Oregon Trail, this covered wagon would be a great place for their food and belongings.

Of course, any bird that decides to go on the Oregon Trail will sometimes have to deal with a chance of catching dysentery. Of course, that would mean a lot of birds shitting on cars.

69. Of course, while some have birdhouses, others have bird palaces.

This is an ornate bird house in the Maharajah Jungle Trek aviary in Disney's Animal Kingdom. Of course, it's certainly not for sale as far as I know. Still, very elaborate if you get my drift.

70. While most birdhouses are made from wood, many can be molded from ceramics.

Now these are very much elaborately painted with designs that put some art major's drawing skills to shame. However, if it weren't the holes and rods, I would've mistook them for very fancy firecrackers.

72. Now this birdhouse cabin provides the perfect avian nature retreat in the wild.

73. Most birdhouses are usually plain, but this one seems to come straight out from Game of Thrones.

Now I love the ornate style of this such as the clam shell roof and the metal on the front. Still, I'm sure any birds on Game of Thrones would love this, even if many of them get killed off fighting for it.

74. Now your birds can work out their wings in this birdhouse avian gym.

Seems Tom's Gym's offering $50 off for personal training and guarantees results in 2 weeks. Still, I'm sure most birds tend to be in good shape without needing to visit a gym. Yet, I like the gym equipment in this though.

75. If you like old style houses, then this birdhouse with a waterwheel will certainly make your birds feel in another time.

Now this is said to be a watermill cottage with a porch all around. I'm sure the waterwheel is fake in this. But at least this birdhouse doesn't include a birdbath.

76. At times some of these birdhouses tend to take a turn for the more abstract or moderne.

I'm sure many birds in the architectural world would see this as a masterpiece. Regular birds on the other hand, might see it as utter crap. Still, I think it's kind of neat.

78. This birdhouse, is bound to make a bird feel at home in its natural habitat.

79. Why build a birdhouse, if you can have a beautiful bird tower?

I wonder if they design birdhouses like that in Asia. I mean this kind of resembles a kind of avian pagoda to me for some reason. Still, I'm sure the birds will love it.

80. When it comes to birdhouses, you can always make the birds feel at home if you cover one with mosaics of some.

Now I'm sure this is a birdhouse even the biggest artistic bird lover would want. Still, I wonder how that person manage to get some of the brightly colored stone tiles. Probably some hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot.

Home Not So Sweet Home

Ellen_H._Swallow_Richards_House_Boston_MA_01

Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home. Ever since humans traded their nomadic lifestyle for a sedentary life of agriculture and civilization, people have always built houses ranging from the straw hut to the McMansion. Today houses come in all shape, sizes, and types all providing us shelter from the elements outside like increment weather. You can tell a lot about a person from their houses such as wealth and perhaps occupation and personal taste. Now I could talk all day about all the beautiful houses there are but you wouldn’t find this post remotely interesting. Instead, I’ll talk about the types of houses you’d see from the road and make you wonder how such a place exist or who would ever want to live there. However, before I go further, let me go over what this ugly house post doesn’t include:

1. Houses that are messy and decrepit as if abandoned and suffering from poor upkeep.

2. Houses built for low income residents and in bad neighborhoods.

3. Unfinished houses that were either under construction or being torn down.

4. Any house that has been boarded up and seems condemned.

5. Any house that’s been through some kind of disaster.

Of course, some of these houses shown may be due to how its architectural style may make them eyesores on the landscape. Other houses may seem outrageous looking due to the paint job and color. Sometimes it’s a little of both. There may be some that have no character and others that may seem to have too much. So without further adieu, here are some horrendous looking houses you may embarrassed to invite your friends for dinner in, if you ever lived there (save possibly Belgium).

1. Behold, where modern design meets the lack of utilitarian imagination.

While this design may be more appropriate for an office building, it hardly seems suitable for a residential neighborhood.

2. One can do wrong with a house of gray blocks.

Now I don't know about you but this doesn't seem exactly homey to me. Reminds me a place I'd rather go home from like the law office of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe.

3. What do you mean houses don’t have faces?

Yes, those windows appear as if the house is alive and has a rather expressionless face. Also, I don't think it seems too keen about the white railing on the porches.

4. Of course, coming home to this house will sure give you stars.

This little house would actually be perfectly quaint if it weren't for its tacky exterior. Yeah, that cover is bound to cause migraines.

5. She wanted a standard 2 story house. He wanted something more futuristic looking. Eventually they settled for this.

This looks as if the builder basically took an old house, split it in two, and built the white block and balcony section to connect the two. Now I'd be pretty embarrassed to live at this place.

6. I call this one, “The Green Tea Tulip House,” since it’s green and has a second story shaped like a tulip.

The tulip design is a perfectly fine architectural style for such a house. The green tea color on the other hand, is just utterly disgusting.

7. Now nothing makes a winter cabin brighter than Rainbow Brite.

Sure it may look a bit decrepit and abandoned. But I'm sure the next Cabin in the Woods film isn't going to be set at this place. That is, unless who's killing everyone there is a big fan of Lisa Frank.

8. Wait a minute, this house ain’t halfway done?

Let's just say whoever built this house only got it half finished before realizing that he or she ran out money before they could go any further. Yet, they still had plenty of bricks.

Let’s just say whoever built this house only got it half finished before realizing that they couldn’t build on as much property as they thought. So they built a large brick wall on the cross section.

9. Behold, the house of the future!

This house is as over 40 years old because it was used in Woody Allen's 1973 comedy Sleeper. Now I wonder how anyone living at this place can go to the bathroom?

10. Now this house seems to resemble any little girl’s dream.

Of course, the family thought they did a good job on their daughter's room that they decided to do the whole house like this. Then again, this would be a perfect facade for a Barbie Dream House.

11. For those going for a more curvy feel, here’s a house for you.

Let's just say, someone might've thought curvy features is a good idea. Alas, it just seems that this architect was way too much into The Lord of the Rings.

12. Apparently, Bobby wanted the kind of house where he could practice his rock climbing.

I don't know about you, but I'm not sure that orange, lime, green, and light yellow is a good exterior color scheme. And the fact that this house is in a more modern style makes it even uglier.

13. In the future, we’ll all live in these affordable modular homes like these.

Let's hope the future never comes to this. Besides, I don't want to live in a home that reminds me of where Luke Skywalker grew up on Tatooine.

14. Nothing like the kind of home than one designed to freak out the neighbors.

15. Well, as long that feature’s in the colonial style, I don’t see how it won’t do any harm.

Now I don't think the front door style goes well with the rest of the house. In fact, I think it just makes an otherwise decent looking house seem fairly hideous.

16. Now I’m sure nobody could have too many dormer windows.

Actually, while I think two would've been fine, four is just way too many for this house. In fact, maybe this house shouldn't have any dormers at all.

17. Brenda decided to have her house painted her two favorite colors: lime green and bright yellow.

Now there's a sight for sore eyes. Actually it's more of a sight that will make your eyes sore. Let's say that lime green and bright yellow aren't a good color scheme for a house.

18. Now here’s a great modern design for your liking.

Looks like the kind of house I'd imagine Lex Luthor having as a summer home. Seriously, it's more or less "eek" than "chic" to me.

19. Of course, you can barely go wrong with a free standing chimney.

Maybe, but I see no reason why this house would look any better with a Pizza Hut like roof at the front. Seriously, this home just looks too silly form me.

20. I’m sure that trim on the garage enclosure goes well with the rest of the house.

21. When it comes to roofs, you can’t have too many gables.

This is a place in New Jersey called, "The Bird Turd House of the Seventy Gables." It was said to be inspired by the German Coo-Coo Clock. Yet, you can see why people liken it to bird turds.

22. Of course, perhaps you’d prefer to live under a pyramid with glass windows.

23. Sure, I think we can create more stories for that black row house.

If there has been any architect who ever gave the finger, then this is possibly in the most spectacular way possible.

24. Of course, we can build a home that expresses both business and party at the same time.

Unfortunately, this house seems to have a lot of windows (which makes me question about their bathroom and privacy). Not only that, but it sort of resembles one of those ultramodern doctors' offices for some reason.

25. Now how about you paint your house in a shade of pink?

Now I'm not sure about pink houses in general. Yet, I'm not sure if this pink would be perfect for Malibu Barbie, let alone anyone else.

26. Now here’s a house that would really jump out to you, in an asymmetrical way.

Then again, it could use another window on the second story. On the other hand, I'm not sure how you can improve this house's look.

Okay, that might be Albus Dumbledore's summer vacation cottage. You know, the Sherbert Lemon Wizard Ranch.

28. Okay, so let’s flip this house.

29. Hello, and welcome to Hayvenhurst.

I'm sure that it would look much better if the front way didn't have to be as high as the other parts of the house. But these owners really wanted to make a grand entrance.

30. This house tends to go for the black and white stripes variety.

Looks almost as if someone made a house out of part of an army surplus store and tried to pass it as if it was made out of Legos. Nice try.

31. I don’t care how well it goes with the house. I want a castle tower.

Now maybe you shouldn't get castle tower unless you live in an actual castle. It just looks so out of place.

32. Now I give you the most expensive house in the world.

How in the hell would anyone want to buy such an expensive piece of shit? If you want to build a home that costs about $2 billion, at least make it look nice.

33. Now here is a palm desert mansion any celebrity would buy.

34. I call this an owl house.

Just don't ask it how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop. Still, kind of freaky looking if you ask me.

35. Now I’m sure a big block of brick at the front upstairs window won’t hinder its looks.

Now this is just such an hideous block placement that I'm not sure ivy can cure. Still, I think it would look better if the brick block in the upstairs window would be removed.

36. What can go wrong with painting your house purple?

Now I really like purple. In fact, it's my favorite color. But I don't know what to think about Dracula's taste in exterior decorating.

37. How about a house colored with the rainbow?

Alright, this resident is on something. And by that, I mean like LSD, marijuana, PCP, brown acid, and other hallucinogen that's known to make you see God or bring world peace.

38. How about make your home inside this pyramid?

Now I don't know about you but I can't help but think that the person who lives there is part of some big shadow organization like the Illuminati perhaps. Then again, there's the Freemasons since this pyramid looks like the one on a US dollar bill, according to the National Treasure franchise.

39. Now I’ve never seen a triangle frame house quite like this one.

Now if this house was possessed, at least I know that the monster is basically in this place. Actually, the house may be the monster as you see by the window eyes and face.

40. Now there is a house with a lot of funky color in it.

Unfortunately, the house painter might've had too much brown acid at Woodstock. I'm sure this is a certain eye sore for neighbors.

41. This house just needs a friend to keep it warm near the red telephone booth.

Don't look now but I think this house wants to eat us. Seriously, I don't like the look in its face. Keep away.

42. I suppose this home would suit any Lord of the Rings fan.

Well, any LOTR fan who's on a budget and thought Rivendell looked too fancy and not enough like some kind of creepy mad scientist's lair.

43. Now this house must be very angry with its owners right now.

Of course, this is why the owners haven't realized that this house isn't too fond of them. This explains why their home has so many problems all the time.

44. I’m sure houses have feelings, too, you know. Sometimes they’re not as apparent.

This house doesn't seem to be too happy here. Maybe it's because they're not paying attention that it has dry rot or something. Still, the brick work is pretty nice on this one.

45. Of course, you’d always need a tower to cover up the front door and for a possible room upstairs.

I don't know about you but there's something kind of out of place and phallic about this house. I just can't put my finger on it. Still, it would look better if it didn't have that brick tower.

Also seems to have a creepy face, which makes this house even freakier. Still, why are there so many ugly houses in Belgium?

46. Of course, some houses are fairly accommodating.

For some reason, I wouldn't be able to look at this house and wonder whether I was being watched. There's just something unsettling about it if you know what I mean.

47. Remember, kids, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Kind of reminds me of what Batman's greenhouse may look like if he ever got into gardening. Also seems to have a monstrous face.

48. House by day. Transformer by night.

I also wouldn't be surprised if this would be the kind of house Batman would live in, if he wasn't born into a rich family. Yet, I don't know what the Batmobile would look like.

50. Now let’s get this house to stand right back up again.

Oh, wait. My mistake. Looks like it was how this house was built, and not as though it had been through a hurricane. Sorry.

51. Murg seemed to like earth so much that he ended up settling down and turning his spaceship into a home.

52. Now how about some dark woodwork with that painted wooden siding?

While I was in marching band in high school, we played against a school that had brown and yellow as a school color. And let me say, these two colors don't go well together at all, except maybe in the toilet.

53. Nothing makes a house a home like unconventional window placement.

However, there is such a thing as being too much unconventional that it makes the house seem like a residence for a Dr. Seuss character.

54. Welcome to our elevated trailer park apartments.

I think someone made a gingerbread display of this that I posted for gingerbread architecture. Still, I don't think trailers tend to bring down property values in a lot of ways. At least in America.

55. In the future, everyone will live in these large concrete spheres that seem to appear from some futuristic Soviet era.

Please, don't make me live here. The prospect of residing in these mammoth balls of concrete seems like depressing prospect to me. Also, they tend to resemble giant aliens from outer space or something. And they don't seem too happy.

56. Nothing says home, like a curvy brown home suitable for the CEO of UPS.

If it wasn't for the windows, I would've mistaken this house for a colossal turd from some extremely large mythical creature. Seriously, this is one of the ugliest houses in modern architecture I've ever seen.

57. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the IKEA trailer.

Now I may equate trailers with hillbillys and country music. But let me say, that even the worst looking trailers I've seen have never been as ugly as this one. Let's just say I don't equate trailers with high concept design and there's a reason for it.

58. Of course, you can never go overboard with fancy decorations on a house.

Actually, I take that back you can, especially if the house is brown. Still, looks like a kind of house I'd expect Willy Wonka to own. I mean he has to have some space to escape from all those Oompa Loompas singing.

59. Now here’s a nice little tower house for fans of Jurassic Park.

Then again, I think a dinosaur quashing it might improve its looks. I mean it just seems more like a house I'd see aliens living in who miss the architecture from their planets.

60. Apparently this house was built by an architect inspired by the soaring bald eagle’s rear end.

Let's just say this marvel in modern architecture just seems to be the architect's expression of basically saying, "Up yours!" to his or her clients. Yet, the stupid clients weren't smart enough to figure that out.

61. Looks like the parents loved how they did the kids’ room so much that they wanted the whole house painted like this.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if this house was in Sweden and the head of IKEA lived there. And I wouldn't even be at all surprised if that person had to build the house from a set of pictoral instructions.

62. Nothing brings out the nice Florida atmosphere than a house painted lime green.

Remember, kids, friends don't let friends paint their houses in lime green even in Florida. That goes the same way with most of the houses painted in the outfit colors of Florida residents over 65, especially in Boca Raton.

63. Perhaps you were seeking a house in a more naturalistic architectural style.

Now this house seems to resemble a gigantic tree monster who'd basically devour you if you ever try to cut down any of its sacred trees. Yeah, I wouldn't want to live there.

64. Wow! What a colorful row of row houses.

Now this really seems like a tacky day in this neighborhood. This is why row houses should always be built in the same style. Else, I'm sure some neighborhood onlooker is going to break out in seizures.

65. Hey, kids, there’s the home of Sam I Am from Green Eggs and Ham no less.

Well, it looks like one of those houses you'd find in a Dr. Seuss book. I'm sure Dr. Seuss would be surprised that his work might've inspired a whole architectural movement.

66. I’m sure blue and orange is a great color scheme for any house.

Man, someone must be a huge fan of the Syracuse Orange that they don't even bother considering how tacky their house looks. I get migraines just looking at that place.

67. I’m sure building a home based on your daughter’s dollhouse seemed like a very good idea at the time.

Now just because the facade would go great on a dollhouse, doesn't mean it will translate well in real life. Besides, I'm sure the dollhouse that served as an inspiration was made by Fisher Price.

68. I’m sure this warehouse will provide well for your storage needs.

Wait a minute, this is an actual house? Then why does it look like the kind of place Walter White would store his meth stash? And why does it seem to lack total character?

69. Now I’m sure green and red would make your house appear rather festive during the holiday season.

Maybe this house would look perfectly fine during the Christmas season. But other times of the year? Not so much. Also, is that lime green?

70. This mansion design was brought to you by Lincoln Logs.

73. There were so many great colors we couldn’t decide. So we went with all of them.

Looks like the paint fumes really seem to get to the painters in this case. You know how inhaling paint could make you see certain things.

74. Now this house just makes me see spots just looking at it. Great big colorful ones.

Now this polka dot house may get the neighbors asking the owner, "Are you high?" Also, I'm sure that they don't go well on a house at all.

75. Now I just need a big garage to park my car and a nice circular window to spy on the neighbors.

Let's just say, I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood with a house like this. Besides, I don't think the small warehouse garage and the awning like front part go well with the rest of the house either.

The Wonderful World of Gingerbread Architecture

Image

I’m not sure of how the tradition of gingerbread building got started, but for many years people have used it as a small scale building material for houses and other edifices. Of course, there has always been a gingerbread White House every year since the Carter administration but whether it gave rise to such craze is unknown. Still, since the tale of Hansel and Gretel, people probably have been using gingerbread to build houses and such, especially as a Christmas tradition. And there are even gingerbread house contests. Still, gingerbread houses in many ways are a fine line between decoration and food depending on the material composition. However, I can post pictures of many creative and beautiful gingerbread houses but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder I’m going to post gingerbread pieces that would never ever be seen in a saccharine Thomas Kinkade painting, especially houses that are either hideous or don’t tell a pleasant side of the holidays. So here are some of the not so cutesy sentimental gingerbread houses many of you might not have seen.

1. Gingerbread Crack House- a gingerbread house on the wrong side of the tracks.

4d0a37c821507

The closest thing in gingerbread architecture that ever comes close to The Wire.

2.Zombie House- I don’t like the look of that place.

zombiehouse

Sometimes in a zombie apocalypse, the zombies are the last thing to worry about, especially if the house is out to eat you.

3. Wrapper House- hard times have fallen many in Gingerbread Town.

House3a

The creator may not have intended for the wrappers to make the house look it’s from a poverty stricken neighborhood. But because he or she used wrappers, it kind of does.

4. Gingerbread Prison Yard- where our gingerbread men do hard time.

ghetto

Where runaway gingerbread go when they’re caught at least by other gingerbread men.

5. Gingerbread Prison- even Gingerbread Town needs a place to put their shady characters.

16146_1195454740017_1637915194_497817_5213361_n

Still, with candy cane fences and barred licorice windows, kind of looks too cute to be a jailhouse. Still, kind of dank.

6. Gingerbread Outhouse- because even gingerbread people at one time needed a place to do their business.

Day0Shrek

I’m not sure if I want to go in there after Shrek’s done with it.

7. CBGB- has seen better days.

gingerbread

It’s actually a renown music club in Manhattan and looks much nicer than its gingerbread version. But anyone looking at this who doesn’t live in New York City wouldn’t have guessed it.

8. These rednecks make the Grinch look like a boy scout.

gingerbread-teardrop-trailer02

Say what you want about the Grinch impersonating Santa Claus, breaking in other people’s houses to steal everything in sight. Yet, at least he’s never shot Rudolph and mounted his head or tie Santa to the top of his trailer.

9. This person really doesn’t like people.

5266992724_8e0b1b9954_b

Did I just see a foreclosure sign? Might explain a lot.

10. This is probably Lady Gaga’s dream house.

homorazzi-christmas-team2-a

Wouldn’t be surprised if her house actually looked like that.

11. Even gingerbread houses can fall decrepit nowadays.

Gingerbread_4

Sorry, but I don’t think anyone will buy a house in that shape especially an abandoned one in a bad neighborhood.

12. Guess the residents here aren’t having a good day.

images

“Come out with your hands up!” shouted the toy policemen.

13. Is that a dead body in the dumpster?

images3

Yes, it is, but I wonder if Marcelli’s Waste Management had anything to do with it? Still, dumpsters aren’t great places to dump murder victims since it’s usually one of the first places police will look and then there’s the garbage men.

14. In the snowy cold, this gingerbread trailer may be the only shelter around.

gingerbread1

Yet, even if the light inside means it’s inhabited, that doesn’t explain the boarded window.

15. Yes, even some gingerbread houses have hoarders.

gingerbread-house-hoarders-233

Of course, this may just be the garage. You know how some houses are designed.

16. Of course, there always has to be a gingerbread McDonald’s as there’s one everywhere.

s_1354

I’m not sure if a McDonald’s gingerbread house is a good idea with all its connotations.

17. This building is certainly not one I’d like to go in.

50ca081ac6baf

Seedy hangout, abandoned tourist trap, or whatever, I wouldn’t go in there. Seems pretty sleazy to me.

18. Well, even gingerbread people need a check cash and a liquor store.

check-cash-and-liquor-store_large

Of course, you wouldn’t want either in a decent gingerbread neighborhood. Also, “loans” looks a lot like “coons.” Just saying.

19. Gingerbread Trailer Park- for the low income gingerbread folk.

IMG_2484

Trailer: home of the stereotypical redneck. Of course, not good with tornadoes.

20. Yet sometimes housing is more elevated in some locations.

3165331534_e41aed1c59

I’m not sure if there are homes like that in real life. Probably.

21. A gingerbread whorehouse? Now I’ve seen everything.

bad-gingerbread-house

I guess the person behind this wanted to be noticed. Still, would’ve passed for an ordinary gingerbread house if it weren’t for the words, “Welcome to the Whore House” and the presence of gingerbread hookers.

22. Just an old abandoned house.

kl0aP

But it may be on fire but seems time has forgotten about it.

23. Didn’t know Santa and his wife lived in a trailer.

5266992432_d880f5b355_b

Either that or it’s just they tend to resemble the Clauses.

24. The gingerbread hood.

gingerbread-ghetto-1

Always known a “Gentleman’s Club” is now a misnomer. Still, I think that guy owns both of them.

25. The witch’s lair where the windows have eyes.

Baba-Yaga-Gingerbread-House

I think the house is staring right at me.

26. Merry Christmas from the gingerbread Roosevelt Hotel.

kcrw party 011

For some reason I don’t see palm trees as anything relating to gingerbread or Christmas but maybe that’s just because I live in Pennsylvania.

27. The modern style gingerbread house.

modern-gingerbread-house-2

For some reason, I’m sure if gingerbread and some styles of modern architecture mix well. Also, palm trees.

28. Don’t know if I’d want to go there.

img_0030

Looks like a bad gingerbread neighborhood from what I see here. Also, are those dead bodies?

29. Of course, even gingerbread folk have their dens of sin.

House4a

Has to be one in every town, does there? God, almighty.

30. Is this a house, work building, or medical office?

Savoye

Seriously, I don’t know what this building’s purpose is. Still, reminds me more of a medical or commercial facility than an actual residence.
