Now it’s on to some lucky craft projects. When it comes to looking for holiday crafts for a blog post, I often find myself running into stuff geared toward children. And Saint Patrick’s Day was no exception. Of course, I understand these are designed for parents and teachers looking for child appropriate activities for the holiday. But for a blogger like me, running into them can be a major pain in the ass since I usually focus on craft projects made by adults like what you see above. Nevertheless, it’s always something I have to deal with when coming up with such posts. Anyway, I don’t usually go all out for Saint Patrick’s Day, but I’m sure there are plenty people who do. And last year, I did a Saint Patrick’s Day craft post that received a nice reception as far as I’m concerned. I mean it got 7 likes from WordPress bloggers. So this time, I decided to do another since I had many craft pictures left over. So for your reading pleasure, I give you some more Saint Patrick’s Day craft projects for good luck.

Felt 4-leaf clovers always make great centerpieces.

Each of them is in a different shade of green. And they’re all supported by a pole on a green block.

2. Grace your lucky front door this Saint Patrick’s Day with this green ribbon wreath.

Includes ribbons of different patterns as well as shamrocks. Lovely to put on any front door or on a wall.

3. Of course, one large 4-leaf clover can make Irish eyes smile.

Again, not used to the green flowers. But I do like the shamrocks and ribbons.

Yes, this is another decomesh wreath. But the shamrock is quite ornate that I just had to put it on this post.

Fall in Love with These Valentine’s Day Craft Projects (Second Edition)

Pardon me for the interruption of the last essay, but that couldn’t really be helped. Anyway, moving on, we go to Valentine’s Day craft projects. And I’m sure plenty of us had made at least one in an elementary school art class. Though it would mostly be made from construction paper. However, while there are plenty of people like me who aren’t very much into the holiday with the possible exception of cashing in on it, there are plenty who are. Because you’re bound to find plenty of Valentine’s Day crafts on Pinterest. Though naturally a lot of these are suited for children. Last year, I did a post on V-Day crafts which was quite a hit. So I plan on doing one for this year. And like last year, these crafts aren’t really for kids. Then again, so are most of the stuff on my craft posts in general. Nevertheless, for your reading pleasure, I give you another installment of Valentine’s Day craft projects you’re sure to love.

How about some pink hearts in a pot?

Well, they are propped like flowers with varying different patterns. Nice to put outside one’s door.

2. If you have any troubles, Madam Ruth will fix you some Love Potion No. 9.

Might cause you to kiss everything in sight. And in the Harry Potter universe, it’s a legal date rape drug.

3. A Valentine heart should always have flowers of pink, white, and red.

Well, not sure which flowers they are. But they sure look nice hanging over the window.

4. If you’re into the winter magic, this heart wreath is just for you.

This one consists of a snowy branch heart with two red cardinals. and a heart in the center. A perfect Valentine’s Day decoration for male same-sex couples. Well, assuming the birds are cardinals.

Each heart is pink and red while held to a string. All in all this is quite lovely.

Well, it’s not totally pink. But the colors seem to run together. Like the hearts.

Though know these chocolates aren’t exactly real. But you’d never know what you’d get from them.

Well, the berries are fake and sure aren’t holly. But they’ll do. Love the hearts on the bow, too.

Well, the hearts are in all different colors. But I like the bow best of all.

As you can see, Dia de los Muertos is a huge holiday in Mexico and it should surprise nobody that you’ll find plenty of Day of the Dead decorations through Pinterest and Google Search. Contrary to popular notions, Dia de los Muertos is not Mexico’s Halloween though both holidays do have similar traditions like dressing in costumes, partying, skull decorations, and trick or treating in some regions. Of course, traditions can vary from town to town. Though I have seen it presented this way. Seriously, it’s not. Nevertheless, since Mexicans are among the largest US ethnic groups as well as among the fastest growing that some horrible orange man with straw hair wants to build a wall on the US-Mexican border. So I advise everyone not to vote this fucktard for president and stick with Hillary Clinton regardless of how you feel about her e-mails. Moving on, it’s not uncommon for many Dia de los Muertos decorations to contain skulls otherwise known as calaveras. You know the decorated sugar skulls. They also have bright flowers and other Mexican motifs. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of Day of the Dead craft projects.

The Wonderful World of Scarecrows (Second Edition)

As September rolls in, fall will soon be in the air. And when it comes to fall decorations, there’s almost nothing to beat than the scarecrow. Two years ago, I did a scarecrow post which got really popular around this time of year so I decided to do another one. Still, contrary to the name, most scarecrows aren’t really that scary. Besides, using a scarecrow to ward off crows isn’t going to help rid them from your garden. I mean crows are very smart birds and probably know that the figure in your plot is just a guy full of straw. But not always. So they probably won’t be scared of it. Nevertheless, people love them so much that there are even contests for them at fall festivals and even one post can’t show the amount of creativity you might see in these things. Many of these have straw but they don’t always have to. And a lot of them are dressed in old clothes. So for your reading pleasure, I give you another glimpse into the wonderful world of scarecrows.

Well, she’s made with an ironing board. But yes, she seems a bit flat and stiff.

When it comes to 4th of July, some Americans take the holiday more seriously and go all out than others. For instance, my family hardly does anything special on the 4th other than watch fireworks outside at night. Yet, there are communities that stage 4th of July parades as well as have 4th of July picnics. Then there are residents that have 4th of July picnics or barbecues as well. Yet, on 4th of July, there are plenty of Americans who decorate their homes in a patriotic flair like this one shown above. Families like mine don’t do this. But plenty do since 4th of July decorations are now on sale at stores during this time, especially American flags. Yet, for some people, 4th of July decorations like these don’t seem unique enough for there taste. So these people make their own in order to celebrate the holiday. And yes, you can find plenty of 4th of July crafts on Pinterest and Etsy, too. Many of these DIY decorations are clad in red, white, and blue as well as may contain an American flag. So for your reading pleasure, I bring you to the star spangled world of unforgettable 4th of July craft projects.

An American flag quilting square is well suited for any wall.

And it looks quite fine for over a table. Like the star part on it. Yes, it’s cool.

2. Plants are sure to thrive in this star spangled planter.

This consists of 2 flower pots. The smaller is of stripes. The larger is blue with white stars.

Fiesta Worthy Cinco de Mayo Craft Projects

While it’s contrary to popular belief in America, Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexico’s independence day. That, mi amigo, is on Diez y Seis de Septembre. Rather it’s a holiday that’s observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory against the French in on the 5th of May in 1862 called the Battle of Puebla. Note that at the time Mexico was taken over by France 6 months before that and it had previously been an independent nation since the early 1800s. This should be obvious to us Americans since Texas fought a war with them to gain independence from Mexico and that US fought a war with Mexico during the 1840s so it could take over some of its lands. So what the Mexicans were fighting for in 1862 was to regain their independence, this time from the French. Did the Battle of Puebla accomplish that? Well, in the short run. It wasn’t a strategic victory, just a symbolic one for the Mexican government which bolstered a resistance movement as well as establish a much needed national unity and patriotism. A year later, France would send 30,000 troops to defeat the Mexican Army, capture Mexico City, installed Maximilian I as “Emperor,” and occupied the country for 3 years from 1864-1867. Sure the Battle of Puebla was a significant battle since it was an unlikely victory by the Mexican Army who were against an enemy that was better equipped and outnumbered them 11,000 to 4,000. And the fact that no country in the Americas has been invaded by a European military force ever since.Yes, that’s quite impressive. But I don’t understand why Mexico would want to honor the Battle of Puebla with a holiday like Cinco de Mayo. It just makes no sense to me because you can say the same about some of the battles during the American Revolution and Americans don’t make holidays over the Battles of Trenton or Princeton. Besides, it’s said that the first Cinco de Mayo celebration wasn’t in Mexico at all, but by Mexican American miners in California in 1863. And it’s actually more of a significant holiday for Mexican Americans. In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo isn’t exactly a national holiday and its observance there is like how Americans observe Columbus Day. Sure public schools tend to be closed on May 5, nationwide in Mexico, but other than that, not much else except in Puebla and Veracruz. Nevertheless, since Cinco de Mayo is a significant holiday for Mexican Americans, then I probably should do a post on it. After all, Mexicans are the largest Latino group in the US, which makes Cinco de Mayo a major holiday in California and Texas. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of Cinco de Mayo craft projects.

Well, the cacti and this flower pot give it a real Mexican feel. Love how it’s painted.

Well, the water in the bottles has food coloring in it to get the transparent color look. But the flowers are lovely.

This one is covered in flowers and is used as an outdoor decoration. Love the ribbons, too. So pretty.

The tissue paper involved with this wreath is used for flowers. But it looks quite festive just the same.

According to Pinterest, this is said to come from Martha Stewart’s website. Still, I hope those chili peppers are plastic because real chili peppers should only be used for cooking.

I have to admit, painting rock cacti is pretty creative. I recommend this for Chicanos who might celebrate Cinco de Mayo in my neck of the woods.

I’ve seen these on Pinterest and Etsy. While, indeed festive, I’m not sure where I’d put one if I had one.

I’ve seen a lot of these, too. A lot of them are just cucumbers in pots with toothpicks in them. At least these have flowers.

Well, this one brings out a festive mood. Like how it’s decorated with ribbons, a serape, and a guitar.

This one seems more simpler than the other wreaths. Maybe because it uses a serape, a guitar, and some floral decor.

The Bright Sunny World of Suncatchers

For the wind chime’s optical equivalent, you have the suncatcher. Believed to be originally made by the Southwestern Native Americans, these things are pieces of reflective glass or nacre that are hung indoors at windows to catch the light from a nearby source. Of course, I’m not sure if I’d ever have these in my home since my dad has a tendency for migraines. However, you can also put suncatchers outdoors as well and they do make ones specifically for gardens as you shall see. Some of the designs like you see above could be abstract, perhaps with some mobile like chained elements. And sometimes they, too can be attached to wind chimes like you’ve probably saw. More complex designs can evoke plants or animals. Many of the wind chimes you might see can be massed produced. Others made by hand which you might see on Etsy or Pinterest. And in this post, I give you a treasure trove of suncatchers for your eyes’ desires.

A purple butterfly is sure to shine through the window.

But not when it’s overcast as you see here. But still, this is quite pretty.

The Windswept World of Wind Chimes

A key decoration you might see outside buildings during the spring and summer are wind chimes. These are are a type of percussion instrument constructed from suspended tubes, rods, bells or other objects often made of metal or wood. They tend to be suspended along with a weight which the tubes or rods can strike when they or another wind catching surface are blown by the natural air movement outside. And since Southwestern Pennsylvania has no shortage of wind on most days, wind chimes tend to be popular as garden and porch ornaments around these parts. My grandmother particularly likes them as I’ve seen when I go to my grandparents’ house. However, while hanging wind chimes in the west began with the Romans, they’ve also been associated with decorating in India, China, and Japan. As of today, I tend to see a lot of wind chimes on sale. Yet, many of these tend to have the conventional look. So this is where I turn to Pinterest which brings me to a whole world of more creative wind chimes that many people made themselves. And I share some of these with you today.

There’s something fishy about this one.

Well, the chimes on here are made from a ceramic fish. Not sure if the pieces fit together. But it’s not bad.

2. Who knew you can make chimes from plastic bottles.

Sure they’re probably from a craft store of some type. But they sure look pretty.

3. A sun wind chime always has to have some bells.

Well, this one only has 3. I don’t think this one was handmade. But I like it so it goes on this post.

4. Some wind chimes have all jingles.

I bet this one makes a lot of noise when it’s really windy out. In my area, I’ve known quite a few.

5. Sometimes you have to top your wind chime with a mosaic flower.

I’m sure the chimes are attached at the flower. But the flower is so beautiful.

6. The chimes on this one can be quite colorful.

These are shaped like feathers. But they’re plastic because feathers don’t make much of a sound.

7. Gold chimes sit quite well with a wire butterfly.

You see a lot of spring motifs with wind chimes. This wire butterfly has marbles for the colors.

Bound to ring whenever the wind is blowing. Sure to be a hoot.

I’m sure this was made by someone with too much time on their hands. Not sure if I’d want to have this in a rainstorm. Probably not.

Kind of resembles a flying saucers with large bottles attached in a bead mesh. But it’s a wind chime and a rather large one at that.

Not sure what the tubes are made out of. But the gears sure look nice in them. Great for any steampunk home.

I think these crystals are fake and were bought at some craft store. Still, like how they shine and how they go well with this chime so well.

13. Pink chimes are fine for a light breeze.

You see a lot of crystal wind chimes like these. Sure it’s beautiful. But it’s probably quite delicate, too.

14. When you can’t buy a wind chime, it helps to make one with beads.

This one apparently glimmers in the sunlight. Wonder how it would do in the rain. Only one way to find out.

You tend to see a lot of cutlerly in wind chimes. Not sure if it enhances the aesthetic or brings out the sound.

This one is a wind chime of a teapot with tea cups. But the best part about this one is that it’s purple.

Yes, this wind chime is made from flower pots. Guess these won’t be used for planting anymore.

Sometimes the chimes might not always look great at the top. But you have to admire the beads and string on this.

Well, at least this one looks quite festive. Hate to see this one get tangled.

Dragonflies aren’t the kind I’d have in mind for wind chimes. But these look great on the squares. Lovely.

Not sure if I’d want this on a boat during a hurricane. But it certainly looks rather maritime.

Well, this seems simple enough. Still, love the silver butterfly and the jingle.

You can even paint some of them before you glaze them. Not sure if I’d want to put this one outside since I don’t want to ruin it.

30. Now this is the kind of wind chime for those with a green thumb.

This one has beads coming out from a watering can. Not sure why the wire ends are there. Probably for decoration.

31. For a wind chime that looks so antique, blue roses should give it an additional touch.

I don’t think this is handmade. After all, the metal on this seems fairly manufactured. But I do think it’s very beautiful.

32. Sometimes all you need for a wind chime is a funnel cake pan and some necklace chains.

That has to be a large wind chime as far as I could see. Still you have to love the stuff they have for the chimes part.

33. For an easier wind chime, just string some bead strands on a wooden stick.

The beads on these strands seem to follow a pattern. And each have a blue rectangle at the end.

This one consists of a rolling pin and utensil chains. A bit large for any window, don’t you think?

The Eggscellent World of Easter Egg Dioramas

While I was looking for stuff pertaining to Easter craft projects, I came across some Easter egg dioramas. For many years, the idea of making little Easter scenes has been some sort of tradition since the Victorian Era. So much so that there are now egg dioramas that now pertain to Christmas and other occasions. And I’m not kidding on this one. Nevertheless, most of these egg dioramas don’t use real eggs. Because obviously, opening real eggs make a mess and eggshells break very easily. In other words, they’re terrible for craft projects. Also, many of the bigger eggs are illegal like those of ostrich. So most opt for other materials like sugar, paper mache, etc. That way, people are able to work with something that’s dry both inside and out, doesn’t make a mess, or breaks easily. Also, with such materials, the egg can be any size you want. And as you see, many of these egg dioramas come in a variety of sizes and openings. However, unlike the pumpkin dioramas I showed you back in October for Halloween, these eggs usually contain a rather small space for decorating. Yet, as with a lot of craft projects and dioramas, there are plenty that can get rather elaborate. Don’t ask me how that is. In this post, I’ll introduce you to the world of these kinds of projects by showing ones I’ve found in places like Pinterest or Google Images. So without further delay, I bring you to the eggscellent world of these dioramas for Easter.

A hollow egg can always serve as an abode for a fairy princess.

Not sure how they got those kind of windows in this one. But it really lets the light in for you to see.

2. What better place to build a nest than near a birdhouse?

This is a cute diorama. Love the little birds and flowers. Not sure whether the birds are supposed to be babies though.

3. Sometimes an egg can be more than what it seems when you look inside.

Yes, this egg might seem pretty outside. But inside, it’s a world full of flowers with 2 bunnies facing each other.

4. So that’s what Tinkerbell’s home is supposed to look like.

For the record I’m not a fan of Peter Pan and think it’s overrated as a Disney movie. Still, this diorama is very well done.

5. In this egg, you will find a fairy on a beautiful unicorn.

So it doesn’t have much to do with Easter. But neither does Tinkerbell. But I think this one is cool. So it goes on the post.

6. Didn’t know an egg diorama can bring you under the sea.

Looking at this, you have to wonder how on earth could anyone pull this off. Because it just looks amazing.

7. Springtime is always seen as a season of new life.

These chickies are so adorable in this. Look like little puff balls. Then again, they are little puff balls.

8. Sometimes an Easter egg diorama can never have too many trimmings.

This one is from a few decades back. And it’s embellished with flower, eggs, and other fancy things.

9. To protect your egg dioramas, sometimes it helps to encase them.

Some of these decorations come from vintage Easter cards. A couple have fake flowers in them.

I wonder if this was handmade or mass produced. Because it looks like it’s straight out of Hallmark to me.

These eggs seem so rustic that they can almost be real. Still, love the purple flowers in these, by the way.

Well, this is of Arwen in Rivendale but you get the drift. Still, if I found an egg diorama of Gandalf the Fellowship, Gollum, or any hobbit, I’d gladly show it.

And by that, I mean fluffy baby birds you want to hold in your hand. Because after all, they’re a common motive for Easter.

14. 3 chicks seem to fit rather snug in this yellow egg.

Yes, they seem to fit in this yellow sugar egg. And they’re so adorable in it, too.

15. Sometimes the subjects of an Easter egg diorama depend on the egg’s size and color.

Most of these consist of bunnies. But only one of them has a pig. What that has to do with Easter, I have no idea.

16. Seems these rabbits are celebrating Easter as a family.

I’m sure the rabbits here were cut out from some kit. And it looks crowded. But it’s adorable.

17. Sometimes a sugar egg is just as lovely outside as inside.

A lot of these eggs are made from sugar with icing decorations. But that doesn’t mean that you should eat them, though.

18. A lamb in grass always seems like a welcome sight.

On Easter, the lamb has a sacred tie to Passover as a sacrifice. And since Jesus died on the cross to redeem our sins, one of his nicknames is, “Lamb of God.” Also, lambs are adorable.

19. Never thought I’d see a lavish Victorian home and carriage inside an egg like this.

Okay, the egg is probably dinosaur size from what I can tell. But it still looks quite amazing like it has its own miniature garden.

20. Seems like these two are out and about on a lovely spring day.

And if they live in the American South, their furniture probably has slipcovers. Because lovely furnishings need protection from people’s sweat due to wearing heavy outfits unsuitable for warm weather.

21. Why use Easter grass when dried flowers and moss would do just fine?

This looks very pretty. Nevertheless, I like how it opens from the side. And how the flowers and moss give it an authentic touch.

22. Those wanting to be someplace warm might enjoy this egg diorama of Hawaii.

Sure many people might view tropical islands as paradise. But to me, I see it as a hotbed of tropical diseases and mosquitoes. Still, love the tiki statue and shell though.

23. Didn’t know you’d find a squirrel in an Easter egg.

Yes, I know squirrels don’t show up a lot in Easter stuff. Nevertheless, it’s cute and cuddly for anyone to enjoy.

24. Who’d expect to find anything in a golden egg but a singing angel?

Not sure if this egg is for Christmas or Easter. Then again, since both are Christian holidays, it really doesn’t matter either way.

25. As everyone knows, spring is always a time of flowers and butterflies.

The flowers might be made out of paper and flowers might be fake. But it still looks as if you’re close to the scene, doesn’t it?

26. I guess this is an egg meant for fans of Alice in Wonderland.

The card suite shell is rather fitting for the story. But what you see inside can make you curiouser and curiouser.

27. This young woman seems to be trying to get out of her shell.

No matter how you look at it, you have to think it’s pretty darn clever. Seriously, it’s like a scene like this came to life before your very eyes.

28. These chicks appeared covered in so many colors in this egg.

Yes, this one was made by a company. But you have to admire the craftsmanship and artistry. Besides, the chicks are adorable.

29. Who knew that an entire village can fit inside such a small egg.

To be fair, the egg is probably not that small. But it’s still quite baffling to see an entire village fit in this.

30. In an egg like this, you’d think the trees were made from jellybeans.

Granted, this one is an egg shaped like a basket. And it features mice. But it still counts.

31. Sometimes what comes out of an egg can be a beautiful swan.

I know this was probably made from some company and is being sold as a collectible. But I love how it’s covered in roses and painted inside with butterflies.

32. While growing up, who can remember hearing the story of the princess and the pea?

Of course, they could’ve saved a lot of trouble to determine whether she was a princess and just do a bit of a background check. Or consult a genealogist. Also how could feeling a pea make you unable to sleep? Doesn’t make sense.

33. In an egg like this, you’ll find a bunny selling ice cream.

Yes, I know it’s not really a diorama per se. But it uses an egg shape and it’s so cute.

34. In some egg dioramas, you wouldn’t know how they open.

While Easter isn’t as widely celebrated as Christmas in regards to the commercialization, it’s still a big holiday, especially in places where there are a lot of Christians. And while Easter is widely seen as a religious holiday to most Christians around the world since it denotes the resurrection of Christ, there are plenty of people who celebrate the holiday who aren’t religious at all. Not only that, but there are Christian groups who don’t observe the holiday either. For instance, the Puritans didn’t celebrate Easter and nor do the Quakers. Then there are Orthodox Christians and other Eastern sects who celebrate Easter at a later date since they go by a different liturgical calendar. While my family tends to celebrate Easter as a low key affair, there are plenty of people who go all out, not just including parents with kids. And retailers are happy to indulge, which you’d notice every time you go to a store. Not to mention, schoolchildren in the US usually have projects pertaining to Easter as well. Still, while there is a big market for Easter decorations, there are plenty of people who’d rather make their own. As I’ve seen on Pinterest in researching for this post, I have become well aware of it. But in blog posts, I can only show so much. Yes, there will be some religious content as well as bunnies, chicks, and other adorable stuff. So for your reading pleasure, I give you a treasure trove of Eater crafts to adore.

97. For an Easter decoration, fill some old wine bottles with Easter grass and paint them.

This is another clever idea. And it seems they’re of all different sizes and colors. Love the purple one the best.

98. Eggshell flowers always do great over moss.

Again, not sure how the eggshell planting thing works. But I sure love these flowers.

99. Wish everyone a happy Easter and welcome spring with these blocks.

On one side, it says “Happy Easter.” On the other, it says “Welcome Spring.” They’re reversible.

100. You can make a great Easter display with a box of glass and wood.

The inside of this is filled with tiny decorated Easter eggs. The outside has a quality Easter bow and flowers.
